Festival of Trees

Along with many of our traditions, supporting Primary Children’s Hospital by attending the Festival of Trees is one of our favorites. The kids love seeing all of the creative trees and gingerbread houses on display. They love the kids activities they provide as well. What a great cause.

Giving Thanks

For Thanksgiving this year we went to Taylor’s Dad’s Ranch up North. Most of the family was able to be there. Taylor decided to deep fry a turkey this year. It only took just over an hour to cook and was amazing. We played games, ate, talked, ate, played more games, ate and finally slept. The boys went duck hunting the next morning and were all able to get a bird. Lucky us! Taylor actually prepared it and cooked it for him and the kids. It sounded like it was a great meal.
At this time, I also like to reflect on all of my blessings. I am thankful for an amazing family, our health, good jobs, a cozy home, great neighborhood, education, refrigerator, washing machines, cars without problems (at the moment), children’s laughter, church, my savior and last but not least FOOD! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The First Thanksgiving

Mama Robinson felt guilty for leaving us on Thanksgiving to spend time in St. George so she treated us to a Thanksgiving Feast. It was a lot of fun. They had food like they would have had back then (turkey, pork, mashed pumpkin, creamed corn, spiced cider, oysters, etc…). They had activities for the kids that they used to play which were so simple, but so much fun for the kids. We even had a chance to line dance after dinner. It has definitely been a while since I have done that. Thank you Mama for a great time!!!

Good Times

Noelle, Mom and I took the girls to a Christmas Gift Show. The girls had fun sampling all of the food and we had a great time getting started on our early Christmas shopping. We also took the kids to Trafalga where the boys earned $5 in tokens to use. Jayden scored big on the big wheel earning a whopping 1000 TICKETS. I think it bought him a whole large bouncy ball and silly putty!

Déjà Vu

We found ourselves back in Park City a few weeks ago at the Winter Pports Park. Noelle decided she wanted to get on her sled again for fun. She did a great job and it brought back a lot of great memories. The kids loved playing in the snow and eating lots of goodies. We always have a great time whenever we cheer Noelle on!

3 months and counting!

Auri is now in her 3rd month. It is sad to think she is the last little one we will have. I am trying to enjoy her, knowing this will be it. But somehow time always wins and flies by all too quickly.

Reflections 2011

For reflections this year, Jayden decided to compose a song. He did a great job and won 1st place (he was the only one out of the entire school to compose music). And Skyler won Honorable Mention for his artwork. The theme this year was “Diversity is…”. I am so proud of both of them. They are both very talented.

Halloween 2011

This year I volunteered for Skyler’s class Halloween party. I was able to let Aysia and Lacee tag along while Noelle watched Auri. I was in charge of the bingo station. We then stayed to watch the school costume parade. There were some amazing costumes. The kids always choose a goody to make for Halloween so we made a graveyard, owls and a banana worm. All of my kids decided to be something you can’t just go buy at the store. Luckily I ask them in August so I had plenty of time to make them. Jayden was “The Claw”, Skyler a bubble gum machine and Aysia a flower pot. Auri was our little Ladybug. Mom, Dad, Noelle, Janson and the kiddos all came over for soup in a pumpkin with pumpkin bread bowls. Mom and Dad stayed while the kids went trick-or-treating. Dad even lost the kids at one point because he was doing some trick-or-treating of his own. But don’t worry, they found their way home. It was a very warm night this year so the kids didn’t have to bundle so much and were able to show off their costumes.

Thommy the Turtle

Jayden bought two frogs a few months ago, but unfortunately they both ended up escaping and we found them after they died. So Taylor, being the great Dad he is wanted to buy them a turtle. So he surprised them one night. They were so excited. They decided to name him Thomas or “Tommy” the Turtle for short.

Fall Activities

Once again, we have a tradition to go to Cornbelly’s each year. We love all of the activities and the corn maze they have. Of course we always have to cheat in order to find our way out, but it’s always worth the try. We also decorated a gingerbread haunted house. The kids did a great job although they ate half of the candy and frosting in the process.

Pumpkin Carving

As most family traditions, we had to carve our pumpkins. I think we carved a little prematurely this year. It was only one week before Halloween, but they were fairly wilted by the time Halloween was here. We always bake and salt the seeds from the pumpkins for a little snack.

Jayden’s Halloween Party

So after coming home from church Jayden informed me he was going to have a Halloween Party and had already invited some friends to come over the following day. He also invited a few of his classmates to come. I had a few parents call and ask what time the party started. I didn’t have a clue. I told them to come on over. I wasn’t sure what he had planned, but I gave him a couple of bags of goodies I had on hand and some treat bags for prizes. He made his own games and decorations. They played bingo, beanbag toss and other carnival games. There were about 10 total that came to play. They had a blast. I was really proud of Jayden that he planned and organized the event. My little boy is growing up!

Pikus Halloween Party

Noelle, Mom and I had such a great time planning the annual “Pikus Halloween Party” this year. The theme was a Carnival. We gave out tickets for food and activities. We had hot dogs, pizza, hoagies, cotton candy, soda, chips, popcorn and a bake sale. We then had several carnival stations including face painting, darts, beanbag toss, fishing pond, and even a haunted house for the kids. We had a great time. It is always a lot of work, but well worth it!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

I have loved Aysia’s preschool. They are so structured and provide some great excursions with the little ones. We were able to go to a local pumpkin patch for a field trip and Aysia was able to bring a friend (Her best friend Lacee). Mom was able to tag along as well and help out with Auri. We found our way through a corn maze, fed animals, played on the playground and even went through a haunted house. We had a little picnic after. Fall is finally upon us. We are so excited!!!

Blessing Day

Auri was blessed on Sunday October 16, 2011. Her dad, Taylor, Uncles Rob, Jared, Zack and Kyle, Cousin Troy and Grandpa Pikus, Grandpa Yates and Great Grandpa Yates were in the blessing circle. We went back to Mom and Dad’s for a luncheon. She did a great job and was passed around all afternoon. We are so happy she is here and has joined a family that adores and loves her immensely.

Double Trouble

I’ve talked about a few Lacee stories, but many of them aren’t without Aysia. The pair together spells D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R! But it makes our lives comical, so in some ways we welcome the two together. The latest was playing dress ups in Aysia’s room. I have never understood why they make “real” makeup (out of colored wax) for 3 year olds. Anyway, they used it the best they knew how and here you have it…. 2 very beautiful, shiny, plastic faced girls.

I love going to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin. It’s so much more fun than going to the grocery store. The patch we go to donates all the money earned to an education fund and the price of the pumpkins are your choice. I probably give a little more than I would by buying them at the store, but it is for a great cause and the kids have a blast.

Fall Fairs

I love all of the fairs in the fall. I was able to take Aysia to my parent’s neighborhood fair and the kid’s elementary school set up an amazing carnival. It was fun to see how excited the kids were in something as simple as the fishing pond. What a great way to spend a fall afternoon.

This fall Skyler lost 5 of his teeth. Three of them were lost within four days, all at school. We loved teasing him that he looked like a Jack-o-lantern. He thought it was fun until he tried eating a caramel apple.

Cheering on Rob

Rob decided to race his Lamborghini at the quarter mile race track after he replaced his engine with twin turbos. It was quite surprising when we were driving behind him on the freeway and flames were shooting out the back. I guess that is normal for a car with that much power!?! Anyway, he ended up with a time of 10 seconds. I guess it was a little too fast for the track and they escorted him off due to not having row bars and a parachute. Gege, Yvonne, my parents and all of the kiddos were there to cheer him on.

Why?

I always ask myself why the kids can’t stay the ages they are now forever. I absolutely love my kid’s ages. Now with our last little one growing, I am now realizing how quickly time flies. It depresses me to think that Jayden is already half way to 18. If only time could stand still.

Fall Soccer

Fall wouldn’t be the same without Soccer. Taylor was one of the coaches for Jayden’s team this year. Both did an amazing job. Skyler was quite the runner this year and has improved greatly from his last soccer season. It is great to watch now that the kids are starting to learn positions and the rules, although it was very entertaining when they were 4 & 5 years old. We look forward to next year.

Auri’s 1st Boat Trip

We purchased a ski boat this past spring and Auri and myself were finally able to take a ride in it. It was a little chilly for tubing so we just took a relaxing drive and had a picnic dinner. The kids and Taylor have been able to get some use out of it with fishing trips to local lakes and Lake Powell.

Domesticating Aysia

Aysia has always been my big helper. All of my kids enjoy helping me make dinner or some sort of goody. Aysia loved my “beautiful princess apron” so I let her wear it and put her to work making calzones. It is much more messy when I have the kiddos help, but I must admit, a lot more fun!!!

The kid's elementary school hosts a yearly skate night at a local skating rink. The kids love to ride their scooters around and loved the glasses they bought in order to look "cool" while riding.

Lake Powell... Finally

We have anxiously been waiting for Lake Powell all year. Unfortunately with such a little newborn at home, I was not able to go, but Taylor, my Dad and the rest of the kiddos were able to make it down for a great 4 day weekend. They camped on the beach, swam, rode on the tube, fished and relaxed. I will definitely make it next year. One of my favorite places on earth!

Kicking off the Fall Season

Fall fairs are always a reminder that the cooler temperatures are upon us. As each season begins to change, I always think my favorite season is approaching. I thought summer was my favorite season until fall started approaching. I love the colors of the autumn leaves and the cooler temperatures. I love hot chocolate and soups in the evening times and enjoy the longer nights and staying indoors. I love Halloween time and the kid’s excitement for all of the approaching holidays. Of course if you ask me in another 2 months what my favorite season is, I will tell you winter!!! I love Seasons!!! We always enjoy going to the state fair and seeing all of the animals and produce. Of course we always have to let the kids take a few rides as well. It’s a great way to ring in the autumn season.

Fall at the Cabin

One of my favorite times to visit the Robinson Cabin on Brighton Ski resort is in the fall when all of the colors are changing. They were just starting to change when we made a trip up there. All of the cousins were there to celebrate our cousin, Jonnie’s, upcoming wedding. It was fun to have everyone together and the kids always have fun fishing the “fishing pond” and entertaining us with puppet shows. Grandma Woobie and Aunt Jan always do a fantastic job. We always look forward to our cabin days!!!

Happy 91st Grandpa!

91 long, happy years. It is so fun to talk to my Grandpa about his past. He has some amazing stories. It is interesting to know that he has lived during the horse & buggy stages to cars, airplanes, computers and cell phones. What an amazing time to live and see such growth. Noelle spent hours and hours putting a photo book together with digitized images where she was able to clean them up and put names with all the faces. What a priceless gift for him and all of us!

AURI’S 1 WEEK!!!

We have made it 1 week and still going strong!!! She definitely does not sleep well during the night, but amazingly I am able to tick during the day and get some of my to do list done. With a 4 year spacing, I have forgotten about how time consuming infants are. It was nice to have Taylor home the 1st week in order to adjust. Noelle was so nice to give Auri a photo shoot. Auri seemed to be struggling that morning, but amazingly, I loved all of her pictures. She does a great job, I would highly recommend her as you can see by the amazing pictures!!!

Spiders and bugs and snakes... Oh My!!

My kids love summer for all of the little creatures they get to find. Their favorite is finding grasshoppers for the Bearded Dragon to eat and flies for Jayden’s frog, Brax. We saw a snake slithering across the road on our way home one night so Taylor (a reptile loving man) decided to catch it and let the kids hold it. He then let it go in the brush of the hills by our house. A few days later, Taylor found a Tarantula crawling across the sidewalk, so once again he caught it and brought it back for the kids to enjoy. I was surprised that Aysia wanted to hold it. I am Arachnophobic and have done everything in my power to not let the kids have the same phobia. I guess I have done a good job so far. Aysia seems Fearless.

1st Day of School

I am always sad to see the summer fly by so quickly and come to an end. I love the long, lazy days with no commitments other than hanging out with the little munchkins, but all things must come to an end. Jayden is in 4th grade, Skyler in 2nd and Aysia in her 2nd year of preschool. Back to “ROUTINE” .

Fishing, Fishing & more Fishing!!!

Jayden has found his 1st love… Fishing. We bought a used speed boat this summer and Taylor and Jayden have definitely taken advantage. They love going to Strawberry reservoir to spend a lazy day fishing. I am just grateful that Taylor cleans and cooks them.

Establishing a Routine

I am not much of a routine person. There are way too many unexpected diversions in my daily life. So as for an infant joining my “routine” of daily life… No problem! Actually it has been great to have big helpers. Jayden has been a comforter for her when I am trying to finish dinner or homework with the other little ones. Many people have asked how #4 has been so far and I have to say I am really enjoying the spacing and the ages of my kids. I love to see their excitement with a newborn in the house. They all wanted to celebrate her birth and give her a birthday party. Noelle bought us a cake and we lit candles and had a little "birth" day party.

Going Home with #4

It is always a little overwhelming to go home with a newborn. The only difference this time, I knew what to expect and was just tired thinking about it. Lots of sleepless nights…. But well worth it! She was a bit jaundiced so she had to be under the lights for the first 2 days home and had to go to the hospital for the next 3 days for blood work. Nothing like having to jump into reality right away.

ANNOUNCING…. Auri Anne

Auri was born August 14th at 3:04 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz and was 20 ½ inches long. The kids were so excited to meet her in the hospital and couldn’t keep their hands off of her. We had several visitors at the hospital and thank them for all of their warm wishes and gifts. She is definitely loved!!!

Bags Packed….

With my prior deliveries, I have routinely gone into labor and given birth on my due dates, with the exception of Skyler when I was induced 5 days early because of Taylor’s schedule. So of course I was hoping to come early with this little one, but I didn’t get my hopes up. Sure enough, the night before my due date, Taylor pleaded with me to go into labor that night so he could have a day off from his (8a.m.-5 p.m.) church meetings. His wish was granted. I started cramping about 3 a.m. and awoke Taylor at 6 a.m. We told the kids we were leaving for the hospital and had Noelle come stay with them. They were so excited, there was no going back to sleep that morning. I was a little disappointed when we got there only to be told my contractions were irregular and I was most likely not in labor. I have had 3 other labors, and I told Taylor if they sent us away, I would just have to pace around the hospital. I knew I was in labor. Sure enough, after 2 hours of walking the halls, they said I was definitely in labor and was able to get my epidural. Ahhh, Relief!!! She was born 3 hours later, at 3:04 p.m. I honestly thought it would have been a faster labor due to it being my 4th, but just relieved I didn’t have to go over my due date!!!

Thanksgiving Gardens

Another place I have not been this summer was Thanksgiving Point Gardens. The Children’s gardens were a lot of fun for the kids. They had a lot of fun in the water toys. We then went to the big gardens that are incredible. I felt like we were in a totally different city or state. They were amazing!

Trafalga Fun

Kassidi was able to stay with us a couple times this summer while Shauna was busy with school. We had fun going to Trafalga and playing laser tag and enjoying the rides. The bumper boats and miniature golf are one of the kids favorites.

Swimming Lessons

This year, Jayden decided not to take swimming lessons. He is a great swimmer and doesn’t care to compete. So while Aysia and Skyler had their lessons, he was able to jump off the diving board and go down the water slides. Skyler is doing really well this year and he hopes next year will be his last.

Fun on Grandpa’s Ranch

Taylor’s Dad was able to finish building a ranch house in West Corrine. We were able to go up and enjoy it for a couple of days. The kids loved the pond and rope swing to jump into the pond with. We also had a hotdog and marshmallow roast. It was fun hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma Dayna. We hope we can enjoy the ranch again soon. Thank you!!!

Hill Aerospace Museum

I decided to take Kassidi and the kids to the Hill Aerospace Museum since I had never been there before. The planes were incredible and it was interesting to learn about when they were used and how fast each could go.

Antelope Island

It’s sad that I have lived in Utah all of my life, but have never been to Antelope island. We went with Noelle, my mom, Kassidi and kids to tour the island. We went swimming and the kids caught a few Brine shrimp. The only downfall was all of the little bugs flying near and on the water. But, that would never stop kids from having a great time. We then went to the other side of the island to find out about the history and learn to lasso a bull. We were able to spot a buffalo and even a few antelope.

Bee’s Game

We didn’t get to celebrate the 4th of July since we were in Mexico, so we were excited to see the fireworks and celebrate the 24th. We went with Shauna, Kyle, my mom and dad, kids and cousins to the Bees game. It started to rain a little during the game, but cleared up in time for a great fireworks show. It was a great game. We Won!!!

Softball & Kick Ball

One of our favorite summer traditions is playing and watching softball. This year with me being “large with child” we did all the watching. Noelle was even in a kickball tournament that went until 1 a.m. Skyler and Lacee were troopers. The rest of the kids went home with Grandma and Grandpa Pikus.

Stewart Falls

We decided to hike Stewart Falls with my mom and Noelle with all of the kids. They were troopers and hiked the whole way. Unfortunately, with it being such a cool, wet summer, the snow level was extremely low and prevented us from continuing on to the falls. We had a great hike anyway and were able to have a little picnic and snowball fight.

7 PEAKS

We had season passes to 7 peaks. We had a great time and the kids ages made it a little easier this year. The first time there, the kids were excited and anxious to ride the tube slide. Unfortunately, after waiting for about 40 minutes and being 2 people away from going down, it started to pour rain and lightening. They closed the slide and eventually the park. Luckily, with our season passes, they were able to go down the slides plenty of times!

DAY 7 MEXICO

We relaxed on the beach for the last day and soaked up the rays. We were sad to have to say goodbye, but happy to get back to the United States. The kids wanted to stop by Hoover Damn on the way home so we took a little break from driving. It was incredible and a little overwhelming to be up so high from the canyon below.

We took another excursion on a boat to a small island called Bird Island. There were hundreds of sea lions around. We were able to go snorkeling where we saw star fish, conch shells and sea urchins.

We decided it wasn’t worth washing and combing Aysia’s long hair 4 times a day so we decided to get her hair braided. She was so excited and sat so patiently for 45 minutes while it was done. We then went into town and went to an aquarium where the kids could pet sea lions, turtles and fish. We then went to dinner and shopping.

We enjoyed another day at the beach. Taylor and Jayden took a little fishing trip in the Sea of Cortez. They caught several fish, but only brought home a few for us to make fish tacos with. As for me, I was almost 8 months pregnant and very swollen. As you can see, very few pictures were taken of me.

DAY 3

RELAX, RELAX, RELAX!!! We decided to just hang out around the resort on day 3. We made sandcastles, looked for sea shells and flew kites. We even found a Portuguese Man O’ War jelly fish. That night we celebrated Ace’s 3rd birthday in the room. The kids were able to break a piniata open for candy and prizes. We then had cupcakes and sang happy birthday to Ace.

We decided to take an excursion to the tide pools. Our guide was amazing and we were able to find a lot of great sea creatures and urchins. Aysia was really brave and held a sea cucumber. The water was an incredible 87 degrees. Ahhh, paradise! We then went into town for lunch. We were serenaded by music as we ate tacos and oysters.

It was nice after a long ride in the car to finally relax. We stayed at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Penasco Mexico. We were able to check in, take a tour of the resort, eat an amazing dinner and swim, swim, swim!!!

MEXICO

We had the opportunity to take a trip with Grandma Robinson and Taylor's sister Mikelle and her cute family to Mexico. We had such a great relaxing trip. We only had one little mishap which was at the beginning of the trip. We drove down since the resort we were staying at was only 40 miles south of the Arizona boarder. So Taylor made sure our SUV was in top shape. New tires, filters, oil, etc.... Unfortunately, on our way down to St. George (where we were going to stay with Taylor's sister) we noticed the SUV was having some issues. So just as we got off the off ramp to Mikelle's house, it stalled. It was close to midnight so it wasn't too hot for us to wait while Taylor figured out the problem. We had it towed to a mechanic shop where the next morning we were informed it was our fuel pump. We were so fortunate it happened right there in St. George rather than through the desert or Mexico. So we had it fixed and were on our way. We stayed at the J.W. Marriot in Phoenix, Arizona the first night. It was an amazing hotel and the kids had a blast in all of the pools and lazy rivers.

Summer Fun

So it is that time of year that I look forward to each year…the kids being home all day!!! I really enjoy the late nights and late mornings I get to spend with them. Softball games, lightening storms, evening walks, slurpees at the gas station, hot dog roasts, vacations, birthdays, fireworks, and just lounging. This summer we planned a little “field trip” each week. Most of them were places we had never seen before or had not seen in quite some time. One of our first excursions was up the canyon to see waterfalls and play in the water. Grandma Pikus was able to come with us which is always exciting. The water was a little cool, but perfect for the hot sunny day!!!

This year, Skyler really wanted a birthday party and lucky for him Cars 2 just came out in theaters. On his birthday, we invited family over for cake, icecream and presents. He wanted a cars cake. So with Noelle’s help, I think we were able to pull it off. A few days later when the movie came out, he invited 5 friends to the movie and cupcakes after.

Skyler continues to enjoy anything artistic, especially making origami. He definitely takes his time getting things done and really thinks things through before doing them. He loves legos and cars. He enjoys wrestling with Jayden, playing tag and soccer. He loves anything miniature in size especially little babies. He is always quick to share and give a great big hug!

The Princess’s Royal Ball!

I usually like to wait until the kids are 5 until we start having birthday parties, but Aysia insisted she wanted a princess party. So the invitations were sent out, ball dresses were bought, preparations were made and Whalla – A princess party was created! 5 little princesses (Lacee, Brynna, Anna, Lacee and Aysia) all beautiful in their dresses. We played “kiss the frog”, “musical princess shoe” and bingo, made picture frames, and watched a short princess movie before singing happy birthday to our little princess. Aysia and Lacee enjoyed getting ready for the “Royal Ball”. Getting their hair and nails done were the highlights!

Aysia is a typical 4 year old girl. Old enough to do it herself one minute and do everything for her the next… Depending on the mood. She loves being a girly girl, but also loves to hang out with the boys, riding bikes and playing games. She doesn’t like being dirty and will usually be found using a napkin at every meal. She loves her baby dolls and making friends.

Pikus Family Vacation

Mom did a fantastic job this year in planning our Pikus family trip. She rented us all trailers and we went camping for 3 nights up to Cherry Hill. We lucked out on weather and went to Lagoon the 1st day. We got there right at opening and with very few lines, Mom and I took the younger kids while the older ones and adults were able to jump from ride to ride. Near late afternoon, the lines grew so we went back to have hotdogs and relax. A few decided to go back for more rides later that evening.

The next day was Cherry Hill. Once again, weather cooperated and it was a perfect day to swim and waterslide. We relaxed around the trailers and played games that night. Thanks for such a great trip Mom & Dad! You’re the Best.

Saying Goodbye to Grandma…

My Grandma Elaine Helm Wright passed away on June 2nd, 2011. She was 96 years old. She fell 3 months ago and hurt her hip. She had difficulty getting out of bed after that and her health slowly deteriorated. I had the opportunity to visit her with Skyler the day before she died at her care center. She was not coherent; however, when I mentioned how great her hair looked she showed signs of recognition. She was having difficulty breathing and Skyler thought she needed oxygen. He also thought she might see a little better if she had her glasses. She loved get-togethers, dining, playing games and making anyone in a room feel important. She will be greatly missed. We love you Grandma.

Summer Parades!

I love parades in the summer! This year I was lucky enough to watch my 5 nieces and nephews while Jared and Jodi enjoyed a night over for their anniversary. We went to the little carnival where we finally saw Ammon smile. He absolutely loves rides. Hyrum, on the other hand, was a little reluctant. They loved the parade and all other the goodies they were given. In the 24 hours that I had them, I am happy to say, we only lost 1 shoe!!! Thanks for all of your help Mom and Noelle. It was a great weekend!

Remembering Grandpa!

For Memorial day, we went to visit Grandpa Robinson’s grave after brunch with Grandma Robinson, Taylor’s mom, Jan and Johnny. He was a Colonel in the military and buried at Camp Williams. It is always fun to hear stories from his life. He was an amazing man and is greatly missed.

My dad is such a kid at heart. For his “Birthday Party” he wanted to go miniature golfing. So all of the kids and grandkids tried our hand at “put-put”. Although he is well into his sixties, the kids all feel like he is their age. He loves to play a game of tag around the kitchen counter, play hide-and-go-seek and watch cartoons. Fieldtrip to the Zoo!

I was one of the lucky mom’s that were able to go with the 1st grade classes on a field trip to the zoo. I was assigned 5 little ones and was lucky enough to have 2 other parents join us there. I am happy to say we never lost anyone and I think the parents enjoyed themselves as much as the kids. The Gorilla was in a playful mood that day and decided to give us a little dancing show. I think the kid’s favorite activity for the entire day though was the bus ride up. A little chaotic, but we made it.

Aysia made it!!! She has officially moved on to the 2nd year of preschool. Her cute teachers Mischa and Becky had the kids put on a program for all of the parents. They sang and acted out nursery rhymes. Aysia was Miss Little Bo Peep. Luckily she found her sheep. She has learned her letters and starting to understand their sounds. Next year we will tackle the reading thing! Congratulations Aysa!!!

St. George

We decided to take a quick weekend trip to St. George to visit Taylor’s sister and brother-in-law. We had a great time and the weather even cooperated for us to go out on their new boat to a local reservoir. Of course the boys couldn’t pass up the chance to throw out a couple of lines for fishing. We had a BBQ with a few of their friends and they set up the bounce houses to entertain all of the many kids. We were able to really relax and enjoy spending time with them. So Jayden decided not to have a friend birthday party this year and instead get a larger gift for his birthday. He has wanted an electric scooter for a while and has already gotten much use out of it on frequent rides with friends to the gas station. I really enjoy making cakes for the kid’s birthdays, but Jayden decided he would design, bake and decorate his own cake this year. So out came the colored pencils and paper and Wallah! I masterpiece was created (with a little help from mom).

Jayden is growing up way to fast. I can’t believe it was 9 years ago that we brought him home at a tiny 7lb 1 oz. He is such a big help around the house and absolutely loves working in the yard with his Dad. He loves to read and playing any board games. He enjoys playing baseball, basketball and his favorite, Soccer. He has a weakness for fishing and goes with Taylor a few times each month in the summertime. He can tell you where all of the great lakes are to fish and the kind you can catch. He is a huge helper and has an adorable smile!!!

So I wanted to show off my new hidden, hopefully soon to be, Talent. I decided to play my hand at making homemade cinnamon rolls. I must say, the whole yeast thing really scares me, but I decided to give it a try. I found a new Cinnabon recipe and I must say, turned out the way the picture showed. I was pretty proud of it, hence the pictures. They were a hit with Taylor and the kids and a must “Do again!”

Easter Fun

We invited the cousins over to decorate eggs and spend some time in the hot tub. They were pretty creative when it came to the decorating. It is always a fun tradition. Then Taylor made our traditional “Eggs ala goldenrod” for breakfast the next morning which the kids always look forward to.

It seems like it was just yesterday that we celebrated Easter. We love the Easter activities and especially the Candy that comes out only once a year. We went to our yearly traditional Easter Egg hunt and Aysia even came up with money in one of hers. Then to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for their amazing hunt. It was great this year due to eggs being hidden on a full acre of ground. Money, toys and candy! We also made sure the kids understood the “true” meaning behind Easter and had a lesson regarding our savior and his sacrifice for each of us.

So my nephew Chase decided to come live with us for a few months before heading off to college. He is such a great help around the house, not to mention the yard. He and a few friends got together to celebrate his BIG 18th birthday on April 1st. Of course a few jokes were made and he didn’t know it was going to take place, but the surprise was well worth it. Also, with teenagers, I have found, comes pain. He fell off his long board (and bike) the first week he was here. I must say, his road rash was quite impressive and he will probably have some scars to impress the ladies with. The boys have loved him being here and head down to the gym on a nightly occasion to lift weights with him. I guess he is the big brother around here now.

Simple Overnights

It is amazing what one night in hotel with a swimming pool only 20 minutes away can do to a kid. We surprised the kids with a night away during spring break. We wanted to get away, but with Taylor’s work schedule and our upcoming trips, we knew it wasn’t likely. I think they were just as excited about our quick over night as a 3 night trip down south. We went out for Chinese food (one of the kids favorites), then back to the hotel to swim, swim, swim. And you can only guess what we did the next morning – SWIM. It was a relaxing overnight and the kids had a great time.

Children’s Museum

No matter how many times we go, the Children’s Museum always seems like a new experience. This time they found the stage and dress ups and put on a play for myself, Noelle and Grandma! The grocery shopping is always a hit as well as the playhouse for the girls and construction site for the boys.

Sometimes I wonder why we visit the zoo. I feel like I live in a zoo at my own home with my own unique animals. But it is nice for a change to get out and see some different animals that we don’t have in our own home. Noelle, Lacee and Traycen decided to join us. I am proud to say that we only lost Lacee once, but found her within only a few minutes. It was a challenge with all of the kids, but well worth it!

The kid’s school hosted a family skate night at a local skating rink. We invited my parents and Lacee to join us. The kids had a great time on their scooters. I was impressed with the girl’s riding abilities. This was Aysia’s first time on a scooter. She didn’t want to stop. The boys found the arcade area, of course, and competed with the motorcycle racing.

‘Tis the Season to Ski

Taylor and I have been skiing a few times this season and thought it was time to take the kids. We were going to leave Aysia behind, but at the last minute decided to take her with us. I was a little nervous that she would complain about the cold or how hard it was, but she certainly surprised me. She did exceptionally well for her first time. The bunny run was a little slow for her, so we let her try a few runs down the steeper runs. She only had a few falls and was very disappointed when it was time to leave. As you can see, it was an exhausting day for her.

Beauty and the Beast

A local Junior High presented Beauty and the Beast. So I thought it would be fun for the girls to dress up as their usual princess selves and have a girl’s night out. I invited my mom and my niece, Kassidi, along with Aysia and Lacee. It turned out to be a little longer than I had anticipated, however, they were amazing. I was surprised I didn’t have to make one trip out with either girl for a break. They were mesmerized by Belle and her beautiful dresses.

I was impressed when Jayden came home from school one day and said he had to research and read a book about John F Kennedy. I asked him if his teacher had assigned him this famous person, but he explained he was able to choose whomever he wanted. He wanted to learn more about him. We really found some interesting facts and he was able to present a poster with his findings at a Biography fair where he was able to dress up like him. He did an amazing job!

Sledding with the Pikus Clan

Jared and Jodi had their little baby girl, Jesee, in February. So while Jodi was getting some well deserved rest, Jared invited us sledding with the rest of the crew up the canyon. Some of the hills were a little steep, but we eventually found a little rollercoaster run that the kids couldn’t stop going down. The kids always have a great time with their cousins.

Surprise! I am pregnant and due in August. The kids are at such fun ages for a new little one to join our family. When I found out what I was having, at the early gestational age of 15 weeks – thanks to my wonderful occupation- we decided to surprise the kids with a PINK BREAKFAST!!! We didn’t tell them why, but let them guess. Aysia mentioned it was because it was her favorite color and Skyler thought it might be because Easter was in a couple of months. With a few hints, they finally caught on and were so excited. Aysia wants to name her Kaitlynn, Jayden likes Susan and Skyler wants Anastasia. We told them we would think about it!

Elementary and preschool is filled with activities and take home projects on nearly a weekly basis. If they were able to manage them themselves, it would be a lot less hectic in our household; however, I actually look forward to creative projects I get to put together with each of my kids. A Day in a Life of a Princess

Whenever Lacee and Aysia get together, it is routine that they throw off their daily clothes and transform into not one, or two different princesses, but several. Saying Goodbye to Isaiah

It is always hard when kid’s friends have to move away. I think it is difficult for them to understand. We had the opportunity to pick up the boy’s friend, Isaiah from school and play twice a week at our house for a few hours while his parents worked. Unfortunately, they had to move and the boys had to say goodbye to their good friend. We were able to make a farewell party by taking him to Trafalga. They had great times.

A day at the Cabin

Our friends Bart and Shonnie were brave enough to invite us back to their cabin near Kamas. The kids always have a great time. Jayden and Taylor were able to attempt the zip line this time and only had one mishap when their dog, Lucy, got in the way of Taylor as he was cruising down. Fortunately, she wasn’t hurt. The sledding is always great especially when you have snowmobiles to pull you back up! Thanks for the great trip Wright Family!!!

Dale Rex Memorial Award

The Dale Rex Memorial Award is presented annually by the Cougar Club to an individual who has made a significant contribution to athletics in the state of Utah. Apparently she had some big shoes to follow. Some of the prior awards were given to Larry H. Miller and Steve Young. It was quite the accomplishment. Congratulations Noelle!!!!

Our Christmas Day was quite relaxing. Since we already had an early Christmas with the Yates family, we were able to enjoy the entire day at our house. We had ham and potatoes and invited my parents and Taylor’s family over for a Christmas dinner. It was really relaxing and enjoyable. Santa brought me several purses, my new camera and amazing pictures of Christ. Taylor was surprised with a new tent from Santa, Jayden with new skis, Aysia with a new bike and Skyler with K’nex. We were able to enjoy a somewhat “quiet” Christmas Eve with Taylor’s mom and family. We were invited to his Mom’s house for an amazing dinner and fun games to follow. Some of my favorite Christmas memories include picking out the Christmas tree, decorating it and admiring our finished product with a cup of hot chocolate. Although we don’t go hunting for the “real” tree, but instead pull it out of the shed and then decorate it, I hope my kids remember and cherish the memories of decorating for Christmas. And of course, we still had our cup of hot chocolate to celebrate the beginnings of a new Christmas Season!
