Robert Michael Wright

My Uncle Mike lost the battle to cancer in February. He was an incredible man in so many ways. He taught me to enjoy the moments especially in nature and the arts. He was an amazing artist himself and found joy and beauty in our surrounding areas.

Bob was born in Brigham City, Utah, on July 3, 1944, and passed away on February 15, 2012, at home in San Pedro from metastatic melanoma that had spread to his brain, lungs, and spine. He graduated from Morningside HS in 1962, UCLA in 1967 with a BA in English, and UCLA Law School in 1970 before beginning his legal career at the Automobile Club of Southern California. He retired from the Auto Club in 2003 as VP and General Counsel. In his career and personal life Bob was known for his intelligence, humor, fairness, and integrity. Bob is survived by his father, Robert Hopkins Wright; sister, Pat (Lee) Pikus and their children and grandchildren in Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Jensen Wright and sister, Anne Walker. Bob and his wife of 42 years, Pat, have lived in San Pedro since 1972. Pat grieves his loss as do his children, Andy (Sabrina) Wright of San Diego and Samantha (Brian) Teofilo of San Pedro and their five beautiful daughters, Sabrina, Kiriana, Kalia, Kobe, and Kateri who love him and will miss him, too. Bob's interests and talents were many: a skilled fine artist and avid reader he enjoyed active participation in many sports and outdoor activities including off-road motorcycling, scuba diving, running, camping, sailing his boat Windshadow with family, friends and solo, weight lifting and road and off-road bicycling. As a traveler Bob was thrilled recently to journey to Machu Picchu and Antarctica but also enjoyed the beauty closer to home: Catalina, Death Valley, Yosemite, the Central Coast. Bob served on the Board of Directors of FRIENDS of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (FCMA) for 18 years and has also enjoyed membership in Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club serving as Judge Advocate.

Dance like no one is watching...

Aysia had the opportunity to dance for a local high school basketball game half time show. She was able to practice with the high school drill team for 3 weeks and then perform to the song “Flashdance, What a Feeling”. She did a great job for her first big show. Grandma Robinson, Grandma Pikus and Lacee were all there to cheer her on.
