Happy New Year!

We had a great New Year’s Celebration. Shauna, Kyle & Kassidi spent a few days at our place along with my parents. We played games ate amazing food and counted down to the close of 2010. I was on call unfortunately, but I was lucky enough not to get called in until we rang in the New Year. We look forward to the new year and the surprises it may bring.

Christmas 2010

Our Christmas Day was quite relaxing. Since we already had an early Christmas with the Yates family, we were able to enjoy the entire day at our house. We had ham and potatoes and invited my parents and Taylor’s family over for a Christmas dinner. It was really relaxing and enjoyable. Santa brought me several purses, my new camera and amazing pictures of Christ. Taylor was surprised with a new tent from Santa, Jayden with new skis, Aysia with a new bike and Skyler with K’nex. We were definitely spoiled this year.

Christmas Eve

We were able to enjoy a somewhat “quiet” Christmas Eve with Taylor’s mom and family. We were invited to his Mom’s house for an amazing dinner and fun games to follow. We also had the opportunity to talk about some of our favorite Christmas memories. Most of them involved giving to those in need. The kids had a blast playing with their cousins Linc and Ace.

READY, SET, LIGHT THE TREE!!

Some of my favorite Christmas memories include picking out the Christmas tree, decorating it and admiring our finished product with a cup of hot chocolate. Although we don’t go hunting for the “real” tree, but instead pull it out of the shed and then decorate it, I hope my kids remember and cherish the memories of decorating for Christmas. And of course, we still had our cup of hot chocolate to celebrate the beginnings of a new Christmas Season!

Gobble Gobble

We had a great Thanksgiving. We all went to Rob and Gege's for dinner. Everyone did a great job making the food. It is always tradition to go around the table and say one thing that we are thankful for. I am thankful for my kids, hugs, summer night storms, mountains, skiing, the gospel, my neighbors, snow, music, makeup, job, cars that run, close family, health, electric blankets, chocolate, friends, home, sleep, changing seasons, Lake Powell, softball, Christmas, etc.... The list could go on and on. We have made it a tradition to go to a movie on Thanksgiving evening. So we all watched "Tangled". It was a really cute movie. I would highly recommend it. Thanks to all of my family, we had a great Thanksgiving!

Giving Thanks

I wanted to Thank my children for helping make our Thanksgiving goodies with year. We made Pilgrim's hats and candy stuffed turkeys that we were able to make for the place settings at Thanksgiving dinner. We had a few spills, but it all worked out and they turned out cute.

Chilly nights and FOOTBALL!

Taylor’s friend, Mike is one of the coaches for Highland football. They made it to the state finals at Rice Eccles stadium. So we decided to take a trip up to watch an amazing football game. It was back and forth all game and came down to double overtime. Highland ended up beating Lone Peak by 1 point. We are proud of all the athletes and coaches. We had a great time! Great Job Highland!!!

School Projects

I love making crafts and projects with my kids. The school projects are always fun. Jayden has had to be creative with his book reports and make characters out of tin cans and explain his book on poster board. At least it stays interesting. Skyler has been able to decorate a few paper doll cut outs. We made Darth Vader for Halloween and an Indian for Thanksgiving.

Remodeling - Not by Choice

So we didn't exactly remodel, but it sure felt like it. Our water tubing cracked on the back side of our refrigerator and caused it to leak throughout the night. When I woke up, I noticed our wood floor was wet and soft. Taylor was able to fix the tubing, but not before it had caused the damage. We knew it would most likely buckle a little so Taylor placed 100 lbs of weights on the wood. When I awakened the next morning, I was surprised to find the wood had buckled about 3-4 inches up and caused the weights to slide off to the one side. So we had to make a claim through our insurance. Unfortunately, they had to rip out all of the cupboards and replace half of the floor. My refrigerator, stove and cabinets were all in my Family room and living rooms. I guess it is nice to have a new refinished floor.
