There is never a dull moment whenever the Pikus's get together. We had a soup and salad bar for dinner then the games began. There was the famous "white-elephant exchange" which isn't really white-elephant. Grandma Pikus buys all of the gifts, most of them amazing gift cards and high end gifts. She then gives each person and specific amount of play money to auction off each wrapped gift. Sometimes someone may spend all of their cash on something like a Barbie doll or just a few bucks on a $25 gift card. It has been a huge hit at our Christmas parties over the last few years. Even Jayden got to join us on a virtual call and ended up with a gift card to a restaurant. We also had the kids reenact the Nativity which usually ends up being more comical than spiritual since the little ones usually end up fighting with the donkey and shepherds over their staffs. It wouldn't be the same without it though. This year we had a surprise visitor which Auri was grateful for since she didn't get to see Santa due to Covid. She was afraid he wouldn't know what she wanted. So luckily she let him know. As you can see MOST of the kids were excited to see him, a few apparently didn't' realize where their Christmas gifts came from. It was another successful Pikus Christmas Party! The memories will last us a lifetime and beyond! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the great parties!

Pikus Christmas Party
Welcome Home Lacee!!
Lacee had the opportunity to go to Canada to be a competitor on the show "All Round Champion". She was one of many applicants that had to go through a rigorous application process. She was ecstatic when she found out she was accepted! She was there for 12 weeks competing in various sports that each of the 10 kids excelled at. From in-line skating to rock climbing and from Swimming to dancing and trampoline. The kick-off for the show is in the spring! We look forward to watching her share her talent of pole-vault with the other athletes as well as find out her final place! Way to go Lacee!!
Ear Piercing ... Take 2
Aysia's first ear piercings closed up after not wearing earrings for a few years. So she thought it was time at the ripe old age of 13 to give it a second try. She was so brave and didn't even shed a tear ;)
Family Hang Time
We love December not only to celebrate our Savior but to enjoy Family time! We decided to have a Family "Date" night starting with a trip to Village Baker for dinner then to Cabela's where we looked at all of the fish and animals and did a little Christmas shopping. The rest of the holiday season was filled with playing games, watching movies, attending Christmas parties and just enjoying some down time!
He's Baaaaack!!
Lucky for us, Aysia asked for an Elf on the Shelf for Christmas many years ago after she realized that we didn't have one like all of her other little friends. Thank goodness Santa allowed little "Louie" to join the Yates family during the LONG month of December. Luckily he is a "Good Elf" and well behaved most of the time. He has learned to blow-dry his own hair, snuggle with Ella (Auri's baby elephant), make hot chocolate and play hide-and-go-seek. Unfortunately this year he contracted Covid so he had to stay put for a few days, luckily he healed up nicely and he was back to his curious antics. We are ALWAYS excited to see Louie!
Twisting, Turning & Whirling
Ayisa had the opportunity to try out and make the Vista Heights Dance team this year. Her teacher allowed the students to choreograph the dances for the Winter dance show AKA "Artists In Motion". Aysia Choreographed the dance called "Falling". All of the girls did an incredible job! There will definitely be some amazing Choreographers and dance teachers that come out of this class.
Saying Goodbye
After building and living in our beautiful home in Saratoga Springs, Mom and Dad decided it was time to say Goodbye. We wanted and needed to simplify due to the upkeep and cost of the home. We loved the memories we created here, but we have found that a home is anywhere you make it no matter the style, size or location. We are looking forward to making new memories in a new home, hopefully not too far. The kids have had mixed emotions but hoping to stay close by their friends and schools. We are grateful for the many hands that helped us move. We will be at Grandma and Grandpa Pikus's home until we find the place Heavenly Father needs us to be. Goodbye 1072 Summit View Drive!
