A Christmas Carol

We invited the Paces as well as Grandma Woobie and Grandma Pikus to join us for a night at Hale Center Theater watching the Christmas Carol. We started the night off by going to dinner at Mi Ranchitas and then to the play. They always do a great job and even bring in the celebration of the Christ Child in their rendition of the play. It was a great way to start off our Christmas Weekend!

1st Ski Day... Well, ALMOST!

We are going to make what should have been a short story really long. The kids were so excited that we were going to enjoy the first day of our Christmas Vacation from school on the slopes. We made sure we got to Brighton Ski resort in plenty of time to get our Ski tickets and get a good night of skiing in with the fresh new powder that we had just received. Unfortunately, Skyler had a season ski pass from last year that he didn't redeem due to a back injury that he decided wouldn't be worth getting a season pass that we had difficulty redeeming. They said he could redeem it this year if he hadn't used it yet. We assumed we could just get it at the window, but unfortunately there was a lot more to it. So Mom bought hers and the girls passes for the night and told the girls to go ahead and start skiing so they could get their monies worth. So off they went to get on the ski lift while Skyler and Mom stayed behind to work out his pass. Unfortunately it took longer than expected and while we were in the middle of working it out, Aysia called several times saying that they were stuck on the ski lift. After we got Skyler's pass, we realized there was only one lift open by this point due to the other lift breaking down and the line was extremely long. The girls were stuck on the lift for about an hour. Once we realized we would be spending most of our night in lines we asked for our money back which they only offered because we hadn't used ours yet and the girls were stuck on the lift. It was a little miracle that Skyler had issues with his pass because had we not had issues, we would have had a couple of runs only to find out that we would have to wait in long lines all night on a run that we didn't like as well as the other. We were bummed that we weren't able to ski, but grateful we weren't out the money on a miserable night of skiing that we would have had to endure with long lines. Always look at the tender mercies in EVERYTHING! Looking forward to next time!

Let The Parties Begin

5th Grade Class Party - Of course Mom has always loved helping with the kids class parties which means with Auri being the baby and the only one left in Elementary school she was at all of them! From stacking holiday cups to Christmas Bingo, unwrapping a plastic wrapped ball with mittens and a dance off, it was a success!

Pikus Party - It wouldn't be Christmas without our Annual Pikus Party. Grandma Pikus always does a great job and for the gift exchange she bought everything. Unlike a true white elephant exchange she had everything from edible underwear (thanks to Noelle) to gift cards and even cash including a $100 bill! Kyle has done a great job year after year being the auctioneer. Grandma gives us each $100 in play money and you bid for the size of the gift. It is always a great time! We had a quick talent show as well where Mom, Dad, Skyler and the girls performed the Tik Tok dance "Fancy Like" which we rocked and invited everyone to join us for round 2! It was definitely a huge success! It wouldn't be the Pikus party without the performance of the Nativity by all of the kids. This year they mixed it up and let 6'2" Skyler be baby Jesus. It's always a good time at the Pikus Party.

Hafen/ Yates Party - The Hafen's came up for a quick visit which meant PARTY TIME! We celebrated Mikelle's birthday early and played Christmas Song Pictionary. Grandma had dinner and games planned and we all headed out to see some incredible Christmas light displays.

Westlake Drill Team Christmas Party

We were sad to miss out on a Yates party, but given the circumstance with Grammy's passing we are hoping we can continue her traditional Christmas Party next year!

Drill Down

Aysia's Drill team officially started their competition and has been loving it. This particular competition was at UVU. They have grown so much together. Her Show routine was Sally, Their Military routine were soldiers, they had a Pom routine and their Dance routine (Lyrical) was a dance performed to the music "Open Arms" by Journey. They were incredible and had some near top finishes at this competition against some pretty incredible schools.
