Look for God in Trials

Aysia was practicing a new trick she learned called a B-twist in our backyard. She landed awkwardly and knew immediately that she did something to her foot. She limped around for a couple of days. Mom did an x-ray which didn't show much but the MRI and CT scan showed she had a very complicated injury. She had fractured off a piece of bone from her Talus bone as well as a grade 2 sprain on the inside ankle and grade 3 sprain on the outside of her ankle. They call it a "snowboarders injury". A terrible injury to have as a dancer. Often times surgery is required for a piece of bone that breaks away but this piece is too small to pin and will most likely shatter. The kids decided to call the little misplaced bone "Austin" named after a date Aysia went on with one of Jayden's friends.

Aysia was devastated. Here she had worked so hard to earn a spot on her dream college dance team and now one month later she was injured. She knows God is in the details although it is unknown right now what his plan is for her. So she was required to wear a boot for the next 2 months and not start dancing for nearly 3 months. She is hopeful to get back into dancing within the next 3 months.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

June is full of Birthday Celebrations! Dad and Aysia celebrated their 49th and 18th birthdays. Aysia wanted a simple birthday so we went bowling with those that were able to join us including Grandma Pikus and Aysia's friend Tia. Then back home to eat cake and ice cream. Skyler's 21st birthday was soon to follow. Once again, a small party since Skyler's busy school and work schedule doesn't allow him a lot of time for extra curricular activities. It's a lot of celebrating in a few short days, but great reasons to party!

Summertime Traditions

It wouldn't feel like summer without our traditional summer celebrations. We have made it a tradition to reserve a spot for the Orem Fest parade and firework show. Jared and Jodi and Noelle and Janson's families usually try to join in on the fun. We order KFC, watch the parade, the kids roam around the blocked off street while we wait for the amazing firework show! This year, Auri brought her friend Shae and Aysia brought Peter. It is a great way to start our summer off!

Saratoga Splash is another celebration we don't miss especially since it is right in our city. The kids love going to the carnival with friends and then we watch the annual parade. This year instead of fireworks they hosted a drone show which was super fun and different.

We love the summer night outdoor theater. The Scera in Orem always has a few shows each summer. We grab some food sit on the blankets while watching the show under the stars. Aysia brought Tia to watch the play Hello Dolly.

Cowboy Up!

Aysia was able to attend a couple of Rodeos this summer with friends before they all went their separate ways. She attended the Eagle Mountain, Pony Express Rodeo with a few girlfriends and Lehi Round up with a small group of friends including Avery and Regan.
