SPRING BREAK

We decided not to go anywhere for Spring Break this year, but thought it would be fun to do things locally. We hadn't been swimming as a family for a while so we decided to go to the pool. Lacee wanted to tag along and we gladly accepted. She is very entertaining to watch when it comes to water. There is a very large bucket that fills and dumps gallons and gallons of water on the kids if they choose to be in the vicinity every five minutes or so. We couldn't keep Lacee in one place, so Taylor decided to experiment and see just how much Lacee liked water. So when the bell chimed that it was time for the water dump, he raced Lacee over to the dumping grounds. We were not surprised, after she was completely drenched, that in reply to Taylor's question "Was that fun?" her response was "YUP, again".

Family Traditions

It has been our tradition, on Conference weekend, to invite the family over for a large brunch on Sunday and watch the morning session together. It has been a great tradition and the kids look forward to it twice a year. This time, we were lucky enough to enjoy the Easter holiday on the same day. So of course, Grandma and Grandpa Pikus hid a few eggs (inside, it was too cold out) and let the kids find eggs with candy, money and treasures. It was nice to have conference apart of the Easter weekend and teach the kids the true meaning of Easter. It has been a great tradition and we look forward to many more.

Easter Egg Hunt

We decided to attend a local Easter Egg hunt even with the cold, wet weather this year. It actually turned out really well and as far as the hunt was concerned, it was over in about 60 seconds. So we weren’t out in the cold too long. The City really gives a great hunt. There was plenty of eggs and prizes to go around and it didn’t feel too over crowded like so many of the other hunts we have been to. I think Aysia was the happiest out of them all with her one pink egg. It is so nice at this age for children to be content with so little. Oh the innocence.

We Love Our Little LACEE!!!

Lacee, our little niece, is one of a kind. She is going to make an excellent leader some day. She is VERY multi-talented and very quick at getting the task at hand done many times before anyone knows there is a task that needs completing. Since Noelle’s coming home, we have definitely missed the little fire-cracker. Our last little experience with her was last week while Noelle was over to get some business things accomplished. Taylor decided he would put a little Sesame Street on for the girls so we could have a half of an hour of peace and quiet. Wow did that back fire. We heard a little crash in my bathroom and sure enough she had gotten into my hair and makeup supplies. I must say she is very talented in knowing where each item is to be placed. A handful of Hair goop was found smeared throughout her hair as well as a conservative amount of foundation placed on her face. The picture below says it all. After her bath, she had to use the restroom. Again, we heard another splash, but this time only water, thank goodness. It was a bucket that is used to wash the kids hair that she decided to dump over her head, clothes and all. Let’s just say Noelle used time out very liberally that day. I will have to continue the Lacee Saga some other day when I have time to write a book. We love our little Lacee.

PIZZARIA

So Taylor learned how to make gourmet pizzas from a friend and we decided to try it out for family night. Taylor has always been a great cook and usually makes close to half of our meals. So he made the dough from scratch (yeast and all) and made one pizza with homemade Alfredo sauce and the other with marinara. He added chicken, feta cheese, artichokes, mozzarella and spinach to the Alfredo pizza and a combination for the Marinara pizza. They were amazing. I must say, it was quite the long process, but well worth the wait (1 ½ hours).

St. George

We were able to spend a weekend with Mikelle and John in St. George to celebrate their son Link’s baby blessing. It was held at their house with close friends and family. It was very relaxed. We also were able to go watch airplanes fly in at the local airport and play at an amazing park. It was a great excuse to get away! Thank You Kelle & John.

Building the Umpire State Building

Recently Jayden has been fascinated with buildings and their height. He decided to build the 102 story building using his Lego collection. He actually ran out of Legos at story # 100. It was quite the project though.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!

The kids wanted to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s 106th birthday so we read our collection of Dr. Seuss books. The kids favorite of course is The Cat in the Hat. They also worked on dot-to-dots, word searches, coloring pages and crossword puzzles focused around his birthday. Then we sang happy birthday, blew out candles and ate cupcakes and ice-cream.

Welcome Home Noelle!!!

It was such a great homecoming for Noelle at the first of the month. The family all welcomed her at the airport with signs, posters, balloons and hugs. She really wanted to go for ice-cream after, but of course none of us could due to other obligations….. errands, basketball practice, shopping, etc…. Little did she know, we were all headed back to Eagle Mountain where her amazing neighbors and city were surprising her with a parade and an escort to the local elementary school where she received the first ever key to the city. It was amazing at the support she had. She was so surprised and had several police cars, ambulances and fire trucks escort her with lights and sirens on to the school. Along the way there were hundreds of people lining the streets for 2 miles with posters and signs congratulating her. We are so proud of her and happy she is back for good now!!!!
