Lagoon

We had to get Lagoon in before the end of the summer so we went the last week before the kids started school. Aysia broke her arm the day before, but they let her on all of the rides she was tall enough for and it didn’t slow her down. Skyler was about and inch too short for one of the rides so we spiked his hair up and he stood nice and tall. The nice Lady let him on even after she flattened his hair. We actually stayed over night in the campground so we were able to stay until closing. It was quite crowded during the day, but we definitely got our moneys worth on the last hour before closing. I would recommend staying 2 nights if you want to stay in the campground. We weren’t around much to enjoy it.

1st Broken Bone

I was just telling my neighbor the other day how lucky we have been not to have any broken bones or stitches with my kids and Lacee. The very next day, when I was at work, Taylor called to say when he was downstairs, Jayden came down and said Aysia hurt herself when she fell off of the couch. So she came up to see me at the hospital and sure enough she had a small buckle facture. Luckily with her age she heals quite quickly and will only need the splint on for 2 weeks. I am surprised that Aysia was the first to break a bone, but we were lucky it was fairly minor.

Cove Fort

I met up with Taylor after our girl's trip to Cedar City and we stopped by Cove Fort on our way home. What an amazing place built by strong hardworking people. The pioneers built it as a halfway point between Fillmore and Salt Lake City. Mail carriers and others traveling could stop by to eat, rest and sleep before moving on. They never had any Indian attacks and actually made friends with them. It was no longer needed in the late 1800's when the railway system was finished.

Shakespearean Festival

What a relaxing girl’s trip. My mom, Noelle and I all took a trip to the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City. We really had a great time. We went to the Shakespeare play “Much Ado About Nothing” and the plays “Pride and Prejudice” and Alfred Hitchcock’s “39 steps”. All were amazing. We stayed two nights and went out to meals, shopped and just relaxed. We only had one mishap when we lost our tickets for one of the plays only to find them later that night when we went back to the hotel room. Luckily we only needed to show our I.D. to get our tickets. Thank you girls. It was great. Taylor took the kids to St. George for a last minute trip where they stayed with Mikelle and John.

Utah County Fair

So my Mom, Noelle, I and the kids had a very small window to take the kids to the Utah County Fair. So when we arrived we realized it wasn't actually going to open for 3 more hours. So we hung out, looked at the photo entries (Noelle entered), ate some ice-cream and returned only to find that a large thunderstorm had rolled in. We had pre-purchased tickets for the rides and since it started to rain, or should we say flood, we found ourselves stuck on the carousel for shelter and around and around we went. The girls sure loved it. Jayden and Skyler were ready to ride a few of the bigger rides. We lucked out after 45 minutes of rain and were able to ride a few of the other rides.

Dave Matthews Band

Taylor is officially a groupie. He has attended each Dave Matthews Band concert when they have come to town and is now going to follow them into Idaho next week. I don’t think he listens to anything else anymore. I just hope his obsession will stay here in the United States rather than traveling over seas. It could get quite expensive.

Scout Camp

Jayden was able to attend his first day scout camp. He was disappointed it wasn’t over night, but was excited to participate in all of the fun activities. Taylor volunteered one of the days and was able to help Jayden with his shooting and carving skills.

Fishing all Summer

Jayden has found his favorite hobby. He has learned the relaxing sport of fishing. Taylor and Jayden have taken a few fishing trips this summer and have been quite successful. They went to Current Creek for a weekend and have fished Utah Lake, Jordan River and a few streams in the Uintas. I must say, Taylor really knows how to fillet and cook fish. The kids really look forward to our fish fry's!!!

Summer Storms

One of my favorite times of the summer are the afternoon and evening lightening and thunder storms. We have made it somewhat of a tradition to make ice-cream cones and sit out under our covered porch to watch them roll in from the west side. The kids love to count the seconds until the thunder is heard. We had one of the worst storms a few weeks ago that dropped hail the size of a quarter on our neighborhood and flooded a few of the houses in the area.

Tragic News

As you can see I had fallen behind on blogging. I am sad to say that we have lost a very critical part of our family. I blame only myself. We decided to take a trip to Kennecott mine with the kids. While there I must have left my camera behind only to never see it again. So I have lost a month of precious memories. We celebrated Skyer, Aysia, and Taylor's birthdays, hiked and walked through Timpanogos cave, celebrated the 4th and 24th of July, cheered Jayden on at his baseball games, and went on a great family vacation with the Yates. So my advice to all who are reading this, don't leave your cameras behind.
