Thanksgiving 2020!

One thing we have learned in 2020 is patience and accepting change. So many times activities we have looked forward to have been cancelled or have been altered due to Covid. The numbers of positive cases have been rising in Utah and we feared that we wouldn't have a typical Thanksgiving with family. But we decided to move forward with our plans and had a great dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Pikus's home. It was a relaxing day with great company. We went to the movie, Crood's 2 after dinner. We came back after the movie hungry for pie. It was nice to be able to participate in something normal again.
Grandma Woobie decided not to go to St. George for Thanksgiving. She has been fearful of getting sick so she stayed home and made us a plate of cookies. She was so thoughtful, we were sad we missed her. We can't wait to get back to normal!

After Thanksgiving dinner, the cousins didn't have enough time together so we swapped kids and let them have sleepovers. Jessee came with us and Aysia went with the Pikus crew. Jessee and Auri made tickets and a concession stand for us to buy treats for a movie in the movie theater for us.  Unfortunately we didn't have time to watch an entire movie due to packing the house, getting ready to move. But they did a great job and we will take a rain check!

Our Arizona Missionary!

Mom's cousin Shane made it out to buy lunch for the Elders. Jayden ended up on the back of his Harley accidentally going for a crazy ride that may or may not have been against mission rules. :)

This was how transfer day went. With so many missionaries coming into the Phoenix Arizona mission due to extra missionaries that are not allowed to go to their originally called mission and very few leaving, most companions only have 1-2 wards they look after.

It was time for Jayden to say goodbye to his trainer Elder Jones after 12 weeks. His new trainer is Elder Tanaman from the Philippines. He is 26 years old and only has 3 months left before going home.

This was Jayden's 7 days of Gratitude from the Prophets' Challenge:

Day 1
Ive been extremely blessed to serve around so many amazing missionaries but most of all i'm grateful to be able to proclaim the restored gospel to the people of Arizona. I can't wait to continue helping and serving the people here!

Day 2: I'm so grateful to be able to see the beauty the world has to offer every day! Sometimes I feel like we can forget how beautiful our surroundings are, but if we are able to just stop and admire the beauty all around us it can help change the way we think. Ultimately the beauty of nature should turn our thoughts back towards Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They have have given us so much and now I just want to show my gratitude for the beauty of the world.

Day 3: Today i would have to say that I am so grateful for technology. It has been such a blessing to continue to meet with people over means of technology. It truly is a testament that the Lords work is hastening and there are more ways than ever to share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. #givethanks

Day 4: I'm so grateful to be in a church that is led by a prophet of God. I fully sustain President Nelson as prophet, seer, and revelator of the church. He is someone who deeply cares about everyone in the church and the welfare of the people.

Day 5: I am SO grateful for the friends that have shaped me into who I am today. I really can't thank all of them enough. I have been so blessed to be friends with so many amazing people, who have made me be better on a daily basis. I can't wait to see what life brings each one of them next.

Day 6: I am SO SO grateful for my family! I can't express enough love and gratitude for all of their support over the years. I am also so grateful for all my grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Every single one of them means so much to me and I can't wait to see what life has in store for all of them! #givethanks

Day 7: I am so grateful for the saviors influence in my life. I am so grateful that he loves all of his brothers and sister so much that He was willing to put down his life for us. Everyday we need to strive to be more like him and follow in his example. I have a testimony that He lives and He is waiting for us with open arms. His sacrifice for us is the ultimate sacrifice and for that I can't be grateful enough. #givethanks

Thankful Hearts!

2020 has been a crazy, difficult year for so many. The prophet, President Nelson gave a brief message a week before Thanksgiving asking us to post what we are each grateful for on our social media accounts. He said we need to focus more on our blessings than our trials and it may surprise us how much we have been given. So here is Mom's 7 days...

DAY 1: I am grateful for 2020!! It definitely hasn’t been an easy year for so many reasons, however I have a closeness now with my Savior that I have never had before. #givethanks

Day 2: I’m grateful for a family where I can be my crazy self and they still love me💕#givethanks

Day 3: I’m grateful to worship “how, where or what they may”. It may look a little different today and the “where” has been changing from week to week, but the opportunity to worship wherever I am has been an incredible experience! #givethanks

Day4: I’m grateful for parents that instilled education at an early age. I am also grateful for the career I chose and how much I enjoy my job and working with incredible co-workers that make going to work easy. #givethanks

Day 5: I’m grateful for modern technology and the ability to see and talk to this handsome Elder every week. #givethanks

Day 6: I haven’t been blessed with many outward gifts (singing, dancing, speaking in public, coordination, art, baking, piano, performing, etc... like all of my amazing siblings) but I’m grateful that I learned at an early age that we are ALL given gifts and talents from our loving Heavenly Father. Visible talents are just as important as those unseen, however they may be more difficult to realize they are a gift from God. I have found most of my talents are “silent” and “inward” talents. Sometimes those are the hardest to see, but I have learned to love them and work on them and hopefully make a difference in the lives of those around me. #givethanks

Day 7: Last, but not least... I’m grateful for my #1! Who knew almost 23 years ago a blind date would lead to so many great adventures? I’m so grateful for eternal marriages. I can’t imagine living life knowing I couldn’t be with him for Eternity. ❤️ #givethanks
