NOVEMBER MISCELLANEOUS

Once again Auri loves her arts and crafts. She has loved hedgehogs for a while and actually wants one from Santa for Christmas, but Mom and Dad mentioned that it has to be up to the parents because they are the ones helping take care of the animal as well. In the mean time her play-dough hedge hogs will have to do!

From Thanksgiving to Christmas... We decided to take our autumn decorations down before heading to St. George so we could come back and enjoy the Christmas Season a little early. Auri found a Christmas Tree sweater she couldn't resist, so of course we had to buy it because it wouldn't feel like Christmas if you didn't have a Christmas tree sweater ;)

Westlake Luxelle's Drill team 2021-2022

For the elementary's crazy hair day, mom had to work so Aysia offered to help Auri. Aysia made the bun and Auri did the rest. She cut out the donut and added "sprinkles".  They both did a great job. Auri hasn't missed a crazy hair day in all of her elementary school days.

Yates Christmas Card 2021: Vacations, Soccer, Dance, Mission Experiences and Moving!

Noelle invited mom over to her neighbors house to make caramel apples. This is the second year in a row and we are hoping it will become a yearly tradition.

Poor Makai broke his arm after falling from the monkey bars at school. At this point they aren't sure if he needs surgery, but he has been a trooper and is loving all of the attention.

Jayden's friend, Gavin Nault's farewell, he will be leaving in December for Arkansas

Elder Yates Updates

Another busy month in the books for Jayden. Brother Badoni ended up getting baptized so Jayden was able to head back to Maryvale to be there for this amazing experience. The work in Buckeye continued to be slow, but he found ways to serve those in the community. He was called out with a few other elders to dig a grave for a goat. He loves being in the small town, but he found out he had an emergency transfer 1 week before actual transfers were supposed to take place. He was being called as the new Assistant to the President since the previous AP was heading home after completing his mission. This is a big calling for him and will be very busy. He is definitely humbled by the new position and hopes to be a good assistant, leader and example to the other missionaries.

Thanksgiving 2021 - Southern Utah

We decided to head down South for Thanksgiving where the weather would be a little warmer and the kids could hang out with their cousins especially since this would be Skyler's last Thanksgiving in UItah for a while. We made it down Wednesday evening, just in time to give Jett his birthday present... Monkey PJ's! The kids have played Monkey Jett for years and he had special monkey pajamas that were a size 3 that he wore until 2 years ago. He cried and cried when he realized Mikelle had thrown them away. So we bought him a new pair and they were a hit! He couldn't wait to put them on and start playing!

On Thanksgiving, we headed to Hanz and Lori's house, John's parents house for an early dinner. Mom made her yams of course and Grandma brought her Thankful tree. The kids colored, jumped on the trampoline and hung out. We were also able to talk to Jayden for a while which was fun for the cousins to talk to him again since it has been a while. After we came home, the kids played games, rode scooters and watched a movie.

The next day, John had a permit for 6 people to hike "The Wave" near Kanab. It is really difficult to get the permit and he had been trying for 3 years each month. The friends that were supposed to go with them along with Lindsay and Matt Hickman had to drop out since their daughter was recently diagnosed with Diabetes and they didn't feel like they could leave her. So they invited Dad and Mom to join them. They left at 7am and left all the kids behind with Grandma Woobie. It was a beautiful day and perfect hiking weather. They only allow 65 permits a day so there were very few people along the trail. It is an amazing formation of rock and made for some incredible pictures. We even saw some Bighorn sheep on our way back from the Wave. Grandma took the kids shopping for Christmas gifts and swimming. We then had to play Ghost in the Graveyard as a tradition later that evening once the parent arrived back home.

The next day was a lazy day. We played games and the kids went on a scooter ride with Grandma and Coda. Unfortunately Grandma took a spill and hurt her wrist, nose and leg. She felt good enough to go to the movies that afternoon but definitely had some bruising. We went to the Disney Movie called Encanto. We headed back home just in time for the kids to play games, make gingerbread houses and put a puzzle together. We ate dinner and had to play a couple of rounds of Ghost in the Graveyard before settling down to watch Christmas Movies. It was a great way to end our Thanksgiving Weekend!
