January is known as the Drill Team competition season. The last competitions and regionals are all packed into one month before the semi-finals and Finals in early February. Unfortunately, Regionals didn't go as planned and they took 4th overall which has happened year after year apparently even though they beat the teams at all the other competitions leading up to Regionals. Dance is very subjective which mom has made sure that the girls understand as long as they are doing their best, that's all they can do. Sometime the Judges like one genre of dance over another, a different style or even specific music. It's not like running where you have a clear cut winner regardless of how they cross the finish line. Luckily the girls are strong and although frustrated with some of the results, use it to fuel their fire at the next competitions.
