Jayden has been bugging me for over a year to hike Mount Timpanogos. So we finally just put it on the calendar and set it in stone. We invited Grandma Woobie to join us. We started on the North side. It is a little longer than the back side, but less steep. So away we went at 6:30 in the morning. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The temperature was cooler than normal which made hiking much easier. Grandma couldn’t keep up, so she asked that Jayden and I continue on ahead. We made the summit around noon. We were able to rest for a while and have lunch. Then came the hard part. I had the bright idea to slide down the glacier like I had done when I was 17 years old. So I brought our snow gear, gloves and garbage bags. It was a trial just to get to that point. We had taken a wrong trail and ended up on a small cliff (about 15 feet) that we both scaled down. It was a lot steeper than I remember and unfortunately most of the snow had melted. So we slip on our behinds most of the way. Thank goodness I brought gloves. We made it down safely though. Going down was much more difficult and strenuous than going up. When we met up with Grandma at Emerald Lake, we ran into some Mountain Goats. They were quite close, but didn’t seem to mind us. We made it down the mountain by 4:30, just in time for Jayden to get ready for his soccer game! What a trooper!
