Aysia started talking about dancing in college in 9th grade. Mom didn't know much about dance since she didn't grow up dancing so she just had the girls tryout for a competition dance team at a local studio. Aysia's goal as a younger dancer was to make it on the High School Drill Team which the studio she was at gave her all that she needed to be successful on getting on the team. However, once she was determined to make a college team she knew she needed a better studio that would push her so her sophomore year she tried out for the competitive high school dance team at Synergy in Salt Lake and made it. Luckily Aysia was on the team with other dancers from her school so she was given rides until she could drive
By Aysia's Senior year she felt like her time would be best spent taking different technique classes and private lessons from studios around the valley rather than learn the same routine over and over for competition. Aysia's first choice for a college dance team was Weber, mainly because she likesd their style, started to get to know the coach Erica and Weber provided the Radiology Degree she would need for her career unlike the other schools. Her second choice was UVU. Both teams are amazing and have done very well at Nationals. This year would be the first year they would both compete at UDA against each other. Aysia had friends on both teams.
Aysia sacrificed a lot of time socially including High School Dance day activities in order to make it to all of the weekend intensives the colleges offered. Peter was staying over the weekend of Weber tryouts. Aysia was ready to tryout for UVU the next weekend if she didn't make it. There were very few spots open on Weber's team since most of them returned including a couple of second year Seniors. She didn't feel like her odds were very good but gave it her all and knew God was in the details. If he needed her at Weber this year she would make the team, otherwise she would head to UVU whether she made the team or not. After a long tryout and making it onto each round cut after cut, she had the final interview. The team was posted online and Aysia's hard work paid off. She made her D1 college Dream Team!! Congrats Aysia!
