YELLOWSTONE
We were excited for this years trip to Yellowstone with the Pikus family since it has been a while since we last visited the amazing park. Mom rented a few cabins in Island park which is just a few minutes from West Yellowstone entrance. We were able to stop for lunch on the way up and of course the girls were extremely excited to have a 4 day sleep over! Can you tell?
We had 3 ATV's that we were able to ride around and travel back and forth between cabins. It was just fun to drive around the little dirt track in front of the Cabins
Taylor loved this picture of Grandma protecting her prized possession - Mustard. She would probably rather go hungry if there wasn't mustard on her sandwich.
Lounging in the Hammocks Kassidi brought.
We spent an entire day in the park. Our first stop was Old Faithful. It never gets old.
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
As we were driving down one of the winding roads, we noticed a small tree was shaking vigorously. As we got closer, we noticed a bison was scratching its head on the tree stump. A few people actually got out of their cars for closer pictures, luckily he was too busy scratching to notice them.
Hotpots
The next day, Kyler brought his large raft to float the river, we rented one more so we would have plenty of room for all that wanted to join us. We packed a picnic and started floating. Unfortunately, the time of year we decided for an exciting White Water Rapids ride, it was very low. We actually had to get out and push every once in a while and paddle most of the way. The kids still had fun and we had a few water fights along the way.
"A twinkie for a twinkie"
Mom bought tickets to Mack's Inn Playhouse where we watched "My Big Fat Family Reunion" Jared was the lucky one to be called up to participate.
On Sunday we decided to take a nice ride up to Lake Hebden where an 7.5 earthquake hit and created a landslide, which in turn caused flooding and a lake to be formed. This occurred in the 1950's and there were still remnants of the cabins that were flooded and destroyed by both the quake and the flood.
