DAY 1:
For Christmas, the Hafen’s and our family decided to give each other the gift of time and fun and included Grandma Woobie in this gift. We planned a trip to Page, Arizona and Lake Powell over part of the kid’s Spring Break and rented an Air B&B house for all of us to stay. We had the kids skip school on Friday and headed down to Page, Arizona. We unpacked, and headed to Horseshoe Bend to watch the sunset. It was amazing! It made us a little nervous that there were no fences near the cliff especially since we heard someone had fallen off the cliff recently. We were able to get some amazing pictures and enjoy the incredible scenery.
DAY 2: We got up early the next morning and headed out on Mikelle and John’s Boat. It took about an hour before we were able to make it to Rainbow Bridge. The air temperature was perfect for hiking. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. After the hike, we traveled back to Mikelle and John’s Houseboat that was docked on the water near Wahweap Marina. We ate lunch, paddle boarded and kayaked. Then it was back to the house for dinner and painting Easter Eggs.
DAY 3: The next morning, the kids were so excited to know that the Easter Bunny had not forgotten them even though we were hundreds of miles from home. The Easter Bunny left an Easter Egg hunt for the kids to find eggs and hidden treasures. Then it was time for the Infamous Easter Breakfast – Eggs A-la Goldenrod!! (Toast covered with a cream sauce, egg whites and golden rods made out of the hard boiled yolk). After breakfast, we watched the morning session of conference, then packed up lunches and headed out. We decided to head to the Toad Stool Hike. The scenery was amazing and felt like we could be on another planet!! After the hike, we headed back to the Hafen’s houseboat for dinner and hanging out.
DAY 4: The Hafen’s had to take off early so that John could work half of the day, so we packed up slowly, cleaned and headed out. We stopped by Glenn Canyon Dam for a tour which was incredible. After the tour, we took our time getting home stopping for lunch and dinner as well as the Pink Sand Dunes and rock shops along the way. It was a great way to end a trip!!
