Taylor and I decided we were due for a date night. So
instead of the routine dinner and movie, I suggested we head to the Days of ’47
Rodeo. We even dressed for the date with boots and buckles. We grabbed a quick
bite to eat and found our way to our seats. We watched mutton busting as well
as the first few bull riders before we started getting several texts and phone
calls from home saying a huge microburst storm came through and our house was
flooding. We quickly left our date and headed home only to find several
neighborhood families, 2 firetrucks and ambulance waiting for us. Grandma
called the fire department hoping they would have a pump. We ended up removing
the water ourselves with buckets. Some sweet neighbors were inside cleaning up
all the mud that had seeped in, but luckily we do not have carpet downstairs
and it cleaned up easily. Taylor’s next item on his “To-Do List” is put a sump
pump in the window well. We were very fortunate it wasn’t worse and grateful to
have such an amazing community. We made cookies for the fire station the next
day and let them know we appreciated them.
