Temple Traditions

Each month I organize a trip for the youth in our ward to attend the temple. It has been routine for the past 4 years. Every first Thursday of the month, we either head out before school (4:15 am) or after, alternating times each month so everyone has an opportunity to attend a few times a year. We have had between 15-40 youth attend each time. In the summer, we like to attend temples we don’t have time for during the school year months. The Salt Lake Temple has been on our list each summer. We have also attended temples in Payson, Manti, Provo City Center etc… This particular trip to Salt Lake was exciting because as the temple worker was scanning our temple recommends, we were stopped by a gentleman and asked to wait a moment while the prophet and first presidency walked down the hallway. It was so great to watch as President Nielson, and his two counselors Oaks & Eyring walked around the corner, smiled and waved to us as we waited to enter the baptistry. I was frustrated earlier because we were arriving a little later than our appointed time and I took a wrong turn to get to the baptistry, but I believe everything happens for a reason. It was a great experience and life lesson!
