Jayden, Skyler Grandma Pikus and Mom had the opportunity to attend Trek this year. We were lucky to be able to go to the actual place that some of the experiences the pioneers encountered occurred. Martin's Cove is well known to many due to the struggles these pioneers had and ultimately the rescue that came to pass due to many prayers and brave people that walked through trechurous conditions. This experience was definitely eye opening and made us grateful for what our ancestors sacrificed for us to have now. Mom and Grandma were needed on the cooking committee so they weren't able to have the first hand experiences the boys had, but it was a blessing to serve the 400 youth and leaders that attended and make sure they were well fed.
It was still a little cool at nights, Grandma can attest to that since she only brought a thin sleeping bag and blanket, so the youth found a patch of snow to start a snowball fight and slide down.
Skyler's Ma & Pa were the Jensen's. They helped make soft cushions for the buckets and they made each of the youth a walking stick. They held activities once a month to get to know the youth before the Trek. Skyler only knew one other girl in his group, but made many new friends through the experience. Jayden had the Crumps from our ward as his Ma and Pa. He too, only knew one other person, but they were able to mingle with other friends along the way.

We had a sacrament service at the dedicated second rescue site. The spirit was so strong and you could feel the presence of those that had passed on.
