It was a last minute decision to hike Timpanogos. Aysia mentioned we missed going last year and we had no weekends left after Memorial Day since school began. So mom said to invite a few friends and we would head up. Unfortunately she didn't realize you had to get reservations to park in the parking lot which fills up within hours of going on sale 1 month before the day of the hike so she and Jayden dropped the other kids off at the base of the trail head and took both Aysia's car and the SUV up the road to park it in a legal area since they heard they would be towing vehicles not in the appropriate parking places. They found a spot 2 miles up the road. Mom decided to hitch hike as they walked down the road to the trail head. I nice guy stopped and gave them a ride about half way down. Mom and Jayden found a "short cut" that lead to the path further up the mountain. It was a little treacherous and they had to do some bush-whacking but they made it to the trail and tried to speed hike to catch up to the others. Unfortunately, they were hiking at Mach speed and Jayden and Mom didn't catch them until they reached the saddle where they all ate lunch and enjoyed the view. This was Auri's first time hiking Timpanogos and did an amazing job until that point. Once mom arrived, she complained a bit but mom reminded her it was her decision and she was told how hard the hike was.
Mom decided to call Grandma Woobie to see if she could meet them at the bottom of the trail and give them a ride to their cars since adding on 2 more miles uphill after hiking 14 miles sounded like a nightmare. So Grandma Woobie showed up in Grandma Woobie fashion with watermelon, snacks, drinks and cookies. She gave us a much needed ride to our cars and even gave a few more people rides up to their cars after she dropped us off. It was a great hike with a great group of kids!
