Lake Powell 2024!

Lake Powell 2024 did not disappoint! We planned on 5 nights and 6 days this year since the prior year was cut quite short with Uncle Rob's passing. Jayden invited his friend Payton. Aysia was able to take Mason and Isaac after mom was able to coax their mom into letting them join us along with Whitney. They weren't able to stay for the entire trip but were able to enjoy 3 great days! Lauren brought her boyfriend Stevo and Regan brought her friend Abbi. We took our time getting down to Bullfrog after we were running late when dad decided to fill the wheel bearings to the trailer after we were all packed and ready to go. We stopped in Hanksville for a late lunch and slept in the houseboat slip the first night. We got up extra early the next morning to go find a good spot. Dad found a great spot up Hansen Creek. We had the area to ourselves. There was plenty of time to paddleboard, surf, tube, explore, light weeds on fire, set off fireworks, craft, play king of the lily pad, watch lightning storms, cliff jump, fish and be crazy. We love our lazy Lake Powell Days

On Sunday we explored some of the canyons and hiked up to the Indian Ruins which was a little more difficult to reach this time since the water level was a little lower. We went to the marina to get ice cream and feed the fish. We were also able to hike the slot canyon that takes some upper body strength to get to as you have to climb up with a few ropes. The kid's favorite is riding the tube and playing games at night. Mom brought several gift cards that she gave out throughout the trip for challenges and winning games. Pass the pig was a big hit and several gift cards were won while playing the game. Unfortunately, our Bayliner had issues the second to the last day while we were there and was out of commission for the rest of the trip. Luckily the kids loved putting 2 three man tubes behind the boat and had a blast bumping each other off.

As we were pulling the houseboat out of the canyon we noticed a boat to the side of the canyon with a few items floating in the water. We thought something might be wrong so we stopped and asked if they needed help. They asked if we had anyone medical on board, someone in their boat had a dislocated shoulder. Shonnie yelled yes, Mom was a little shocked as we had never put a shoulder back in place, only seen it done in the ER. Bart had a few dislocations so with him, the woman that was with the young man and Shonnie and mom, we all made it a group effort to put it back into place. There was definitely some screaming involved but he felt so much better once we had it back in place. It's always sad when the trip ends, but we have pictures to last a lifetime.
