SPRING BREAK 2024

DAY 1

For Spring break the kids wanted to head somewhere warmer. Shonnie decided to take her kids to California so we arranged to go together. Dad and Jayden needed to work one extra day and had tickets to go to a Jazz Basketball game so they decided to fly in a day later. So mom and the girls headed to Vegas to meet up with Shonnie and her kids. Shonnie was ahead of us about 30 miles and since it was April 1st, mom couldn't pass up a good April Fools Joke. So she called Shonnie and told her that they had a flat tire and were pulled over on the side of the freeway in the middle of no where. Shonnie was so sweet and said she would turn around to see if we could figure out changing a tire together. We didn't let it go long, but the joke was a success.

Once we got to Vegas and checked into our Hotel at the Luxor, we wanted to see a show but nothing sounded good. We decided to walk through the Bellagio, eat Mexican at the New York New York hotel and walk down the strip. We definitely walked further than we were planning as you can see at the end of the day, the smiles all turned to frowns ;)

DAY 2
The next day we drove to Oceanside, checked into our Condo right on the beach and headed to the beach. We walked the pier and relaxed in the California sun. Aysia was even lucky enough to catch a fish... on the beach. We headed back to the condo and grabbed a bite to eat. When we returned, we couldn't pass up a few sunset pictures from our condo. Mom headed to the airport at midnight to pick Jayden and Dad up to join us for the rest of our adventure!

DAY 3
The next day was supposed to be the warmest day of the trip so we made it our beach day. Dad and Jayden brought fishing poles to try their luck fishing from the pier. After about an hour they thought it would be more fun to boogie board and rent a Surrey that we could peddle down the boardwalk as a family. We brought a speaker and jammed out to music while dad gave us a wild ride in the cart. It was a perfect beach day. We headed back to clean up and head over to the wharf for a nice seafood meal. Oysters are always a must when you are on the coast. It was Shonnie's first time eating one. She didn't love it but she didn't gag either. After dinner, the kids wanted to shop in the little market outside the restaurant. Jayden and Aysia found Mexican sweaters which they were really proud of being twinners.

DAY 4

We had a full day ahead of us so we started early. We were able to drive by the "Top Gun" house which was just down the street from our condo. We then headed to La Jolla where we watched all of the Sea Lions sleep and play in the water. We then headed to the tide pools to explore and find little sea creatures. We love the little crabs and sea urchins, but on this trip Jayden and Jack found a huge lobster hiding under a rock. Dad tried to catch it but it was too quick.

We stopped by the Taco Stand for lunch which Matt, mom's co-worker, highly recommended. It was definitely worth the stop and wait in line. Our families split up to do our own thing that afternoon. We wanted to rent bikes to ride across the ocean-front but Auri needed to be 16 in order for us to rent them. So we walked around the walkway, found some amazing ships and yachts and headed to old town San Diego. We shopped, ordered root beer floats and headed back to Oceanside. We headed to the huge Thursday night market to shop and eat some amazing food from around the world. We headed back to the condo for the kids to swim and play games.

Day 5

It was a short trip and a long drive back so the kids asked if we could stop in St. George and stay with the cousins that night to enjoy some cousin time. The boys all had games they were playing in so we were able to cheer them on (and play on our phones in between plays). Dad needed to work a few hours so he stayed behind to catch up on a few projects. It was a great quick trip and much needed!
