Drill Team Nationals 2024

 DAY 1

Mom was lucky to head to sunny Florida with Aysia this year for her Drill Team Nationals trip. Aysia wanted to go alone her freshmen year and because last year the drill team went to Disneyland instead of Florida, Mom didn't want to go twice in 2 months as Auri was performing in Disneyland the month after. So she was excited to spend 5 full days with Aysia and the Drill team. Mom didn't go as a chaperone so she was just there for the fun, however the few girls and moms that were chaperones seemed to grow day by day since it seemed like most of the girls wanted to be in our crazy, fun group. We didn't stop all day except for an occasional bite to eat or a bathroom break. We planned our max passes so we always had a ride to be on. It was definitely an exhausting day but we felt like we were able to get everything in that we wanted. We headed over to Epcot later in the afternoon and were able to get on most of the rides we were hoping. We would eventually head back over on the 4th day to get the rest in that we had missed.

Waiting for the monorail to come and take us to Epcot from the Magic Kingdom, we all needed a nap but kept going in order to see it all!

DAY 2

Because mom didn't go as a chaperone, but roomed with a bunch of the other mom's they didn't let those mom's into the competition itself which we were totally bummed about and one of the BIG reasons we wanted to go on the Nationals trip. So instead the moms went to Anna Maria Island for the day while watching the girls compete on their phones during the long 2 hour drive. The moms shopped, ate some amazing food, walked the beach and looked for seashells. A great day, but definitely missed our girls who did an incredible job! We were able to meet up with them later that night for dinner and shopping at Disney Springs.

DAY 3

After a long competition day for the girls, we headed over to Hollywood Studios followed by Epcot the next day. We were lucky to have the early entry so we could get all the rides in that we wanted to that day. We loved Star Wars land and Tower of Terror the most. We waited for Mikey's Railway which broke down after we waited an hour so mom made sure she talked to the right people and were able to get another fast pass for another ride later in the day. We headed back to Epcot for the last of the rides we missed the day before before the girls had to go back to get ready for the awards night that night.

The girls were so excited to bring home a 1st place trophy in the large character show, 2nd place in dance and 3rd in Military and Dance! It was a great competition for these girls.

DAY 4
After a long night of celebrating, we were off to running at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We loved Harry Potter World and all the rides and picture ops there. As you can see, our group kept getting bigger and bigger which meant more fun for not only the girls but the mom's as well!

DAY 5
We were sad our last day came so quickly. We headed to Animal Kingdom for half of the day before heading back to the airport for our flights home. Our favorite ride was the avatar ride and the safari. It was a great way to end a great trip. As you can see the girls were exhausted by the time we finally made it back to the airport. Mom can't wait to join Aysia and the drill team again next year! Way to go girls!
