Elder Yates Update

 

Elder Yates finally arrived in Jamaica after a very long 2 day trip to get there when there connecting flight to Jamaica was cancelled due to bad weather. With very little money left in their accounts, they had to survive on $25 to eat at the airports and rely on the airline to give them a hotel room before finally making it to Jamaica without a phone to update the mission president of their adventures. He and the other missionary finally made it! His first area was Savanna LeMar for the first 3 weeks. He and his companion had no car and no church building. They were to carry a shade tent, chairs, hymn books and items for the sacrament 2 miles one way. They were a bit late but the few church members were patient and waited for them to arrive fashionably late on Jamaican time. He has been learning a lot about sacrifice. He was then transferred to Portmouth, the cruise port town. He is looking forward to serving and loving the people of Jamaica. He also is loving the adventures of findings lizards and snails and any other crawling thing!
