A few neighbors host a Cul-de-sac Halloween party every year so we thought it only appropriate that we arrive in style. Both girls were gone with friends that night so Dad and mom dressed up in their 70's costumes as Eddie and Sylvia. Many people didn't recognize us or even know who they were talking to until someone pointed out it was the Bishop. The mustache was the best disguise. We had to pick Auri up from Cornbelly's but had some time to to waste before picking her up so dad suggested he and mom go eat out in their costumes. Mom said Of Course! So we were seated in the middle of the restaurant for everyone to enjoy our costumes. It was definitely an adventure.
The next night was the Pikus Halloween Party. We planned the mystery dinner where each guest would mark 10 items on the menu not knowing what they would get. This year's theme was "Going to the Movies". So all of the food was catered around the movie theme - hotdogs, nachos, pizza, French fries, etc... Many people only ended up with the condiments and drinks and many didn't have utensils. They loved it. Shauna helped by serving in the kitchen. She moved one of the pizza boxes up to the top rack of the oven. Mom came inside and smelled something burning only for the fire alarm to go off soon after recognizing the smell. We told everyone in the garage it was okay, when really, we were fighting a fire in the oven. The box caught on fire and Shauna quickly grabbed it with oven mitts and threw it in the sink where we put it out with the faucet. We quickly and quietly cleaned everything up while Noelle continued to serve. It was very comical once it was all over but stressful when it was all happening. We were happy we caught it so quickly.
We then headed downstairs where we were divided into groups to come up with a 2–3-minute skit to film. We all had a theme and 5 items in a bag we were to use. We had only 20 minutes to film. We then played all of the skits on the large Television down stairs while we ate popcorn and enjoyed movie theater treats. The skits were incredibly clever and Grandma Pikus got the best Actress award as an insane lady who heard noises. We laughed and laughed. It was a great party and we were happy that everyone took part in making the party a success.
