Mom decided since Grandpa's favorite meal of the day was breakfast that she would take him out the morning of his birthday since Grandma was gone volunteering at the temple for the first half of the day. Mom knew her prompting to take him to breakfast was a miracle after the events of the day unfolded. She told grandpa she would be there at 8 am to pick him up. When she arrived he was still sleeping. After awaking him and giving him time to get ready they headed out. He mentioned he had a terrible night of sleep since his back kept hurting him. Mom took him to his favorite restaurant for breakfast - I-Hop. After eating a big breakfast grandpa mentioned he wasn't feeling well so mom took him straight to the Instacare when he started shaking uncontrollably due to the sudden onset of a fever. Mom remembered this was exactly what happened when he went septic a few months before. Upon arriving to the Instacare, he became disoriented and had trouble walking so after waiting in the waiting room, she decided to leave and take him straight to the ER. The staff was great and got him right back and started working on him knowing he was very sick. Grandma was still in the temple and without a phone. They admitted him and had him in his room in the ICU before Grandma heard her messages. We aren't sure what the outcome would have been had he had to wait for Grandma to come home from the temple 5 hours after not feeling well, but we are grateful for the miracles in our lives. He was admitted to the ICU for 5 days before returning home. Hopefully this birthday isn't a sign of what is to come this next year. We love you Grandpa!
