Along with the Pandemic has come extreme loneliness especially for those who live in assisted living homes. Grandma Vay is one of them who has struggled. She was visited by Jan or another family member almost on a daily basis prior to Covid. She had her friends she could visit with in the dining room and enjoy some of the activities the center provided. After the pandemic hit and nursing homes as well as assisted living homes were hit hard by the virus and many were passing away, thus causing them to close their doors to any family members and keeping them isolated to their small rooms. Many missed seeing their loved ones so Grandma's care facility asked for family and loved ones to provide a parade for those living there for Mother's Day. So we decorated our cars and went around their front drive twice waving to Grandma as well as others enjoying the outdoors. We were able to stop by after for a very brief conversation with Grandma from our car. She was exhausted so it wasn't a long conversation, but much needed. The news heard about the parade and showed up! Auri made it in the local Newspapter and Aysia made it on the evening news, holding the giraffe from the sunroof. We then celebrated Mother's Day with Grandma Woobie at a park enjoying a picnic with Kentucky Fried Chicken!
Mom was spoiled once again for Mother's Day. She awoke to an incredible breakfast which was enjoyed outdoors since the weather and temperature were perfect. We then headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Pikus's home for dinner and to enjoy some time with family since we don't get enough of it these days :)
