MAY 2020 - MISCELLANEOUS

Grandpa Pikus's 76th birthday! We all went in on a weather station for him so he could track the wind and weather in our area. We had quite the turnout for his party! Happy Birthday Grandpa, We love you!

The cousins decided to plan a bake off with each other. Skyler and the boys made oreo cake pops and the girls split up making fruit pizzas and lava cakes.

We finally had the okay for an outdoor activity with the Young Women as long as we could be outside and keep it to under 20 youth. It looks like we hit our max, obviously it was a much needed social gathering!

"Last day of School!" Auri and her friend Keeley hadn't seen each other for weeks and happened to meet up at the outdoor "last day of school celebrations". We drove up, grabbed a little prize from Mrs. Johnson, took a couple of pictures and that was it. Looking forward to 4th grade!

We have loved living in Saratoga Springs, EXCEPT for one little annoyance... The WIND! It is constantly windy here, Grandma and Grandpa have had to repair their roof numerous times due to shingles flying off, exposing their wood. Dad has always wanted a house with a "breezeway" and he got his wish. We might as well call it the "tornado-way". Whenever we walk outside to go to our garage, by the time we get there we look like we have just been hit by not only a tornado, but a hurricane, cyclone and tsunami all at once.

This is how we roll these days. We can't go into any business without sporting one of these beautiful face coverings.

This year's spring was a little colder than most so we had to wait to plant Grandpa's garden until near the end of May. Even then, we had to go out and cover the plants one night due to frosting temperatures. The garden was a success this year even with the strong winds that ruined a few plants. The melons were incredible as well as the squash. The tomatoes struggled a bit, but we had quite a few produced near the end of summer.

With Mom working in the Medical field, several businesses gave her discounts and free items or activities. Real Salt Lake put on a light show with music for cars to enjoy. It was about a 10 minute ride and the kids loved standing through the sun roof as they enjoyed the lights. It felt like Christmas in May! We then grabbed Cafe Rio take out where she received 50% off her order and ate it at a local park. It was a fun family night out.

Traycen and Auri had a playdate; they danced, rode bikes and played Googley eyes.

We are going to be okay! We will conquer 2020 and become stronger because of it...

Aysia decided to run for Student Council next year. This is the poster she made, took a picture and had to post it for students to vote online. She was ecstatic to find out that she made it! She also had tryouts for Dance Company and made it as well. It will be a great 8th grade year, as long as school isn't cancelled!
