JULY 2020 - MISCELLANEOUS

When we went to the dentist, we found out that Auri had 4 cavities!! They don't fill them all at once, so we had to go four separate times to get them filled.

Once Covid hit, Taylor's production facility switched gears and decided to start making and selling hand sanitizer which became a very hot commodity and was sold out at most stores. They boys were able to go up occasionally and work to make a little extra spending cash. $12/ hour isn't bad for a beginner's job!

Celebrating Grandma's 69th Birthday! Jodi and the cousins made a homemade cake as well as had dinner for her when we returned from our Montana trip.

Our house is usually full of art projects and experiments.  This one was making a rainbow out of water, cups and food coloring.

Skyler's team was luckily able to compete in a couple of summer soccer tournaments. He had to try out this year for a new team because his last team dissolved. Luckily he made the team he was hoping to make with several of his high school teammates. His new team is Surf and his coach is Jayden's last year's coach, Shad Rowndy. They seem like they play well together and made it to the finals for both tournaments. One of the semi final games went into PK's. Skyler saved a couple of them and sent their team onto the finals! It was a fun summer for soccer.

Thank goodness the boys love to cook, they take after their father. Hopefully their wives can appreciate them as much as we do!

Trying to find things to do to pass the time... We bought jeweled art for the girls that took a few days to work on and pass the time! An elephant for Auri and a giraffe for Aysia.

On our way home from Lake Powell, Noelle left a message that Skyler was trying out for the football team as a kicker the next morning at 6am! He had never played football, let alone barely watched it on television. It is one of his least favorite sports, but Noelle and Janson saw what an incredible kicker he was at our cabin in Montana that she reached out to the Varsity Football coach and asked if he could tryout even though tryouts were over. The team had been practicing all summer. Skyler called Noelle to let her know he wasn't interested, but after hanging up replied "what just happened? I guess I'm trying out in the morning". He had never kicked a football through a goal post so we dropped him off at the high school with Noelle and Janson at dusk for a few kicks. Then off he went the next morning to try out. He came out with a uniform and a picture taken by the school that day. He made the team! He said at practice, he was sent out for his first field goal. The player dropped the ball just before Skyler kicked it and instead of picking it up or falling on the ball, he kicked it anyway since he doesn't know the rules. When asked how the kick went, he said he made it through the posts! HAHA! After a week of practicing 4 hours a day, he was done. They wanted him to start playing another position as well at which point he had no interest of continuing. Had they let him practice an hour a day and just be a kicker, he would have gladly accepted his position. He never committed and  told the coach he would let him know by the end of the week which he declined the position. He was still rostered as a player all season and will be in the Yearbook photo at the end of the year. Shortest football season ever!!
