With spring comes High School Soccer tryouts. Jayden and Skyler both gave it their all at tryouts. Jayden was on the JV team last year, starting every game and playing a majority of the time. Skyler was on the Provisional team as a goalie. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst years to be trying out for the Varsity team. They don't let Seniors on the JV team so Jayden knew this was it. Sadly, the Premier teams, "Storm" coach was the assistant Varsity coach for Westlake meaning his entire team would be the Varsity players allowing only 3 open positions. This wasn't Jayden's year and wasn't able to make it on the team even though the JV coach mentioned Jayden should have been chosen over 2 of the Premier players, but he handled it like a champ. To soften the blow, this was the Pandemic year which cancelled all but the first 3 games of Varsity Soccer. Jayden said he would have been more disappointed to make the team and then not be able to play due to the pandemic. God is aware of each of us and our needs. Sometimes we don't see the blessings in a trial until it is over. Skyler made the Sophomore team and this particular game was a scrimmage between the JV and Sophomore teams. He never got to play a single game in season. They were just getting on the bus for their first away game when they got word it was cancelled until further notice. That further notice was the cancellation of the entire season:(
