The New Norm - Dance Style

We have been anticipating getting back to normal for a couple of months now which we realize will take more time, but we were thrilled when we learned that some of the dance competitions that we were cancelled were just going to be postponed until June. Luckily since most activities and vacations were cancelled, both Auri and Aysia's teams were able to have every member attend last minute. Out of 5 competitions, Aysia was able to compete in 4 and Auri in 3. The venues limited the amount of spectators and required masks for everyone with the exception of the dancers when they were performing. Misty and Hillary, the Dance Company owners did a great job handling the pandemic situation. The first performance in American Fork went extremely well for Aysia's team, they took High Gold as well as the overall high for the competition with their Lyrical dance "Turn to Stone". It was a great way for a come back after all the sad cancellations and changes. We celebrated with shaved ice with the team after a great first competition, it was well deserved.

The next competition was held in St. George which Aysia was ecstatic to be able to travel with her dance friends for a weekend. Unfortunately mom and the rest of the family couldn't join her because we had a trip already planned to Brighton Cabin with the Hafen's and Grandma Woobie. We were sad we would miss her, but excited she would be able to dance with her friends. They rented a couple of townhomes with a pool. They danced, played games, wore mud-masks, and went swimming. Tyson is such a good sport, he was able to hang with the girls and even keep up!

Our next competition was in Provo. The stage was small, but better small than not having a competition at all. After the competition, we headed across the street to a Mexican restaurant to eat and celebrate another competition completed.

The last competition of the season was held in Logan. It was Bitter/Sweet. The team had been competing once a week throughout all of June which is exhausting, but now it came to an end and they realized this was the last time they would perform as a team since most of the dancers were going into High School and and would be dancing on the Drill teams or for the Dance Company for their schools. It was definitely an emotional day and there wasn't a dry eye in the team after they completed their last dance.  It's hard to see good things come to an end. They performed extremely well. Aysia performed her solo and received high point for her division and age group (Advanced 12-13 age).

Since we were up in Logan, we decided to stop by Great Grandpa Wright's grave as well as a few other family member graves in the area and leave a single rose at each. We then headed out for dinner at I-hop to celebrate the last competition of the season.
