Indoor/Outdoor... Take your pick!

Skyler was invited to play on an "Old-Man's league" for indoor soccer with his friend Isaac and many of Isaac's family members. He would never pass up a chance to play. He did a great job as a goalie and their team never lost when Skyler was there. Unfortunately he had to miss 2 games during the season which they ended up losing. They ended up 2nd place overall.

March starts with soccer tryout season. Skyler knew that Eric Jasper, a Junior, would be the next Varsity goalie. Skyler credited him with being an amazing goalie and gave him credit that he deserved the position. Skyler felt he had a good chance at being the back up Varsity keeper since they usually don't allow Seniors to play on the JV team. Skyler and Eric were the JV keepers the year before and did a great job at keeping a winning season. Skyler had an incredible tryout and was even told by Don Bastian the coach that he had the best Goalie tryout out of all the goalies. Unfortunately Don told him because of the rule that Seniors weren't allowed on the JV team he would be cut. Skyler was of course devastated and knew that would be a real possibility. He was definitely bummed and upset that his soccer career came to an end sooner than he anticipated, but he knew Eric was the right guy for the job. That evening after looking at the roster Skyler was surprised that he only saw one goalie on the JV roster, a Freshmen. He wondered what happened to the other goalie he was competing against because his name wasn't listed anywhere. After Skyler reached out to Eric, who has been a great friend over the years, he mentioned that the other goalie threw a tantrum and said that he was Varsity level and it would be an insult for him to play JV. So they allowed him to play on the Varsity team. It was at this time that Skyler became livid that they gave the only position Skyler was capable of playing to a kid who cried the loudest. Skyler sent a very direct text to Don letting him know his frustration and that Skyler would be honored to play on JV if he had the chance. He just loved to play the game and would love to be part of any team as it was his Senior year. Don never messaged him back that night so mom felt bad for him and told him they were going to go on a trip. Where would he like to go? After some research they decided on Portugal and mom booked the trip for Skyler, Mom and Dad that night.

The next day Don finally got back to Skyler and said he and the JV coach needed to talk to him later that day. They said they made an exception and allowed him to be the second goalie for the JV team. Skyler was ecstatic although he would have loved the opportunity to play on the Varsity team he was grateful for a second chance. Now Skyler not only got to play his Senior year but also got an incredible trip out of the deal. Definitely a win-win!
