The Summer of Injuries Part 3 AND 4

After Aysia split her head open and Auri broke her elbow the first month of summer, we were hoping our injury days were over until at least the fall. But Dad had other plans. Mom and Auri were just leaving Lagoon when Skyler called saying "We have a problem" in a very calm voice. He mentioned that Dad and him were trying to put the boat trailer on the back hitch of the SUV for Jared to use the boat the next day. He said they had to wiggle the trailer a bit to get it in place when it shifted quickly and Dad's finger was injured when the trailer came down on the hitch. He mentioned he needed to go inside to get a band aid and Skyler stayed outside to finish hooking the boat up to the SUV. When he went inside Dad was sitting at the computer and looked very pale. Skyler asked dad if he needed help and Dad replied he just needed to lay down for a bit. He declined any help, stood up and started walking toward the living room when Skyler saw him go down face first. It knocked him out and Skyler said he was out for about 30 seconds with blood pooling from his chin. He said he was getting a little nervous and thought if he was out another 30 seconds he would start CPR, haha. When he came to, he kept repeating himself and had a large gash on his chin. Skyler was afraid he might have a concussion but dad was refusing to go to the hospital because he had too much to do so that is when Skyler called mom. Mom of course had to talk dad into going and told him she would meet him there. He still sounded confused and asked mom why she was so mad at him even though she didn't raise her voice at all and just told him to go to the ER. Once mom arrived, she realized his finger needed much more than a band aid. The entire tip looked like hamburger and it had been crushed. He was very lucky he didn't lose it. He broke the tip of his finger, had 7 stitches placed in his finger and 8 in his chin. What should have only been one injury ended up being 2 and we are calling it quits for summer injuries. Although we could look at everything this summer and see all the bad luck we have had, we choose to look at it as all the miracles we witnessed. Aysia was so blessed she wasn't paralyzed or worse in her diving accident, Auri was also blessed that her break wasn't bad enough to need surgery and it healed in time for her dance camp and Dad was lucky he didn't lose his finger or hit the end of the glass coffee table when he went down causing a much greater injury. So yes, this summer has been full of Blessings!!
