Living the Dream in the MTC

We thought Elder Yates' biggest problem with the MTC and mission would be waking up EVERY morning at 6:30am. But he pleasantly surprised us and he was up bright and early every morning having scripture study and meetings. He really transitioned well. With the little down time he had he cooked meals, played games with Auri and on his P-day we planned a last minute RSL game knowing this would be his last for 2 years. Before heading to the game Dad and Mom wanted to spoil Skyler with a meal at the Melting Pot in Salt Lake. Auri tagged along and we had an amazing Fonue Meal. Then it was off to the game where we invited his friend Braden and Jayden's friend Colin to join us, both avid soccer fans. We ended up in the South end-zone with the drums and singing which was actually more exciting than we would have thought. Although we lost by one point, we loved the excitement of the South End of the field. We topped it off watching the fireworks out on the field. We can't wait to do it again in 2 years. The Sunday before he headed to Provo we invited Grandma Woobie over to enjoy Skyler's favorite meal with us... deep fried halibut and play a few rounds of Telestrations the game. We laughed and laughed so hard that we cried and they said their goodbyes so there were more tears. Skyler also said goodbye to his favorite dog, Coda who will most likely not live until he returns as he is 15 years old and slowing down. Goodbyes are hard, but it makes the reunions that much more sweet.
