With it being July 1st and Grandma's birthday we asked her what she wanted to do. She said spend time with us, but after pressuring her she stated there was a cemetery along the way where some of our relatives were buried. We had a few hour drive to Rockland Maine where we would be staying the next few nights. Along the way we stopped by the beach town Ogunquit where the kids wanted to get out and play in the sand. The water was much too cold to swim in, but the weather was perfect for building sandcastles and finding hermit crabs. Noelle, Janson and Grandma and Grandpa headed into the town to look around and eat while the others spent some time on the beach. We spied Grandpa sneaking a couple of ice-cream cones while he relaxed by the beach after his excursion in town. He was rarely seen by himself without some kind of sweet in hand. After some quick showers, we were on our way and stopped in Portland Maine to find our ancestors graves. We were successful and the kids made it a point to sing Happy Birthday to Grandma every chance we got. We finally made it to Rockland where we celebrated Grandma, sang happy birthday and ate cupcakes. It was a relaxing day and a great way to celebrate an amazing person.
