BOSTON TRIP - DAY 7

Because the 4th of July fell on a Sunday this year, many towns celebrated the Nations birthday on the 3rd. We traveled to Quoddy Head State Park where we were able to visit the most Eastern point in the USA. It had a beautiful lighthouse that marks the spot. We didn't stay long because we wanted to head towards Eastport where the small town had Independence Day festivities. The town had a beauty pageant, concert and a little carnival. We walked around the shops and the pier, ate great food and Makai won a blow up pickle, his favorite food. We lost Grandpa for a few minutes, but luckily we spotted a candy shop and thought he wouldn't be anywhere else in the town. As we approached, to our astonishment, Grandpa was just coming out with a large ice-cream in hand. He was happy and content which is all we could ask for at this point since he was being patient with our long car rides. To break up the driving, we decided to head down to Machias, Maine and stay the night. When we arrived in town, we noticed they were closing the roads for the local parade. The restaurants were full, so Dad and Mom went to reserve a couple of tables while the rest of the crew enjoyed the small town parade. At the end of the day, we headed back to the hotel where the kids dared each other to eat seasoned crickets Skyler bought from the candy store in Eastport. Surprisingly all the kids tried it and thought one was enough to last a lifetime.
