We always love Soccer tournaments down south in the Winter. It's a perfect time of year when we are ready for some warm weather and sunshine! Skyler's team signed up for the Ice Breaker tournament. Grandma and Grandpa as well as the Pace family decided they needed to get away as well and rented a hotel down there for the weekend while we stayed at Mikelle and John's house. Skyler's team did a great job and ended up in the Final game the following Monday so it made for an extra long weekend which was what we were hoping for.
We were able to hike with the Pace family, watch Jett's team play a basketball game as well as take a trip to Zion National Park and the old Pioneer town, Rockville. We visited the little cemetery as well as the old school house and homes of the town. It was a cold day and very crowded in Zion National Park so we drove through the tunnel and took a small walk in order to take some amazing pictures.
Luckily Monday was a little warmer for the final Soccer game. Although Skyler's team lost that game, he was happy with a 2nd place finish. Dad was able to be the assistant coach this year with Skyler's coach Shad who was also Jayden's soccer coach his last 2 seasons of Club soccer. It was a bonus to get a vacation and a soccer tournament all for one. It was fun to have Noelle and Janson's family as well as Grandma and Grandpa Pikus and Grandma Woobie down there to cheer him on.
Unfortunately, there was a downer at the end of the trip. Aysia decided to play soccer with her cousins during the last soccer game. They needed some "goals" so she took off her shoes and used those for the goal lines. Her and Jett collided and she felt a "pop" in her pinky toe. Mom took her to get it x-rayed the next day and just as we suspected, it was broken. She was devastated especially since it was the beginning of dance season and Drill team tryouts that she has been looking forward to for the past year were coming up in 3 week! We will just say there has been a lot of praying going on in our family for Aysia. Hoping it heals quickly! The rest of the vacation was a complete SUCCESS!!
