Since we had a late night the night before, we had a slow start the next morning. We grabbed some banana bread from the nearby Starbucks and bought a metro pass to get around the city for the day. Our Hotel was able to hold our luggage for the day which was convenient as well. We headed to Arlington Cemetery where we walked and walked. We were also able to watch the Changing of the Guard which was a touching experience since they have guarded the Soldier with No Name' s Tomb every minute of every day since 1921, 100 Years!! We were also able to get a picture with a few serving in the military and stopped by John F. Kennedy's grave as well as his immediate family members. It was overwhelming how large the cemetery was and we had the opportunity to watch as a few Hurst's came in to bury loved ones who had served our country. They mentioned they averaged 26 services each day of the year. After our feet hurt, we headed back to the Metro station and took the train to the National Museum. We loved the Hope Diamond as well as some of the ancient artifacts displayed there. We grabbed a bite to eat from one of the food trucks and headed to the US Capitol. It is definitely more massive than it appears on television. We walked around the grounds and were hoping to get back to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, but ran our of time. We grabbed our luggage and took a train back to the airport where we were ready for our long flight to London. Just after we had taken off, we witnessed one of the largest lightning storms either of us had ever seen. It was coming from a Hurricane that had hit the Southern states the day before. We were glad to be above it. We had a layover in Iceland before heading to London.
