Costa Rica - Day 1-2

For Christmas, Mom and Dad gave the kids a trip to Costa Rica. We were a little nervous about getting the passports in time. They required scheduled appointments which were weeks out and the regular time of 6 weeks to receive a passport jumped to 12 weeks. We decided to expedite the process and luckily got them in time for the trip. Our first day was a travel day. We had a red-eye flight and didn't get into San Jose until late the next morning. We had to wait in an extremely long line to show our passports and show our health passes. Everything just takes longer these days due to the pandemic. Then we rented our car and were on our way. It took 2 1/2 hours to arrive at our hotel in La Fortuna, Arenal National Park. The Hotel we stayed at was called Montana De Fuego. We had a large family room and 3 hot spring pools that we used almost on a nightly basis. Because we were close to the equator, the sun set early and it was dark by 6:00. We were exhausted from a long day of traveling that we found the nearest restaurant which would become our favorite of the trip. It was called Que Rico Arenal which was Italian and surprisingly amazing! We called it "The Place" and made sure to eat there one last time before leaving Costa Rica. It was then back to the Hotel to soak in the springs and go to bed.
