We wanted to make the best of the last full day of our trip. After breakfast, we took an Uber to the Catacombs. It is incredible that there are 90 miles of tunnels under Paris and nearly 2 Million bodies buried in them. We loved learning about the history of the City and like every big City, they had a large fire in 1900 where they had to rebuild and start over in many areas of Paris. We made our way to the Pantheon where we visited the burial sites of Victor Hugo and Marie Curie who we owe our careers to. We made sure to get a picture with her tomb and send it to our friends in Radiology back at home. We decided we had enough time for one more excursion before heading back to the hotel to pack up for our return flight home. We stopped at the Palis Garnier where we toured the Opera House. This particular building was the Opera House that the Phantom of the Opera was based off of. It even has a "lake" under the building to help stabilize the foundation. It was our favorite structure of the trip and one that we weren't planning on visiting. We were so glad we did. We were hoping to make it to the Palace of Versailles but ran out of time. That will have to be visited on the next Paris vacation. We shopped for souvenirs and grabbed a bite at a quaint little restaurant adjacent to the cobblestone streets. I enjoyed some gelato and we headed back to the Hotel. It was an early morning the next day and a long day of flying. Both of our husbands did a great job taking care of the kids and homes while we were gone. Maybe it made them appreciated us just a little more when they see all the things we have to keep up with. It was a great trip and almost flawless, we are already wanting to start planning our next trip!! Where in the world should we go next?
