Aysia decided to run for Vice President at Vista Middle School. She made posters, made handouts with the saying "Vote for Aysia, it's 'Mint' to be!" with a little mint and even made a music video with the words rewritten for the song "I'm Gonna Be" by the proclaimers. Mom's co-worker Matt, and his sweet daughter Mary, helped with the video which was very catchy and original. Aysia was a little embarrassed that they would be sharing it during one of her class periods so she made the excuse that she needed to use the bathroom while they aired it. She had a great time running for the position. The decision was based upon a point system. 20% were student votes, and the rest was determined by teacher recommendations, interview and schedules. Unfortunately Aysia did not win the election, but thought it might be because she would be trying out for the High School Drill Team in a few weeks. If she made the team, she wouldn't be able to fulfill all of her responsibilities as the Vice President to due to the vigorous schedule of the Drill team. She was able to obtain a spot as a Student Council member though which will be perfect if she makes the Drill Team. We are proud of Aysia no matter what position she made!
